Job descriptionJob OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement process, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. This role requires strong vendor management skills, inventory control expertise, and a solid understanding of logistics and supply chain processes. The Purchasing Specialist will play a critical role in maintaining optimal inventory levels while negotiating favorable terms with suppliers.The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experiencein purchasing of metals, electrical components, indirect supplies, services, and long lead time items. A degreed professional candidate is preferred but not required as long as experienced.ResponsibilitiesManage vendor relationships to ensure quality service and timely delivery of products.Oversee inventory control processes, including tracking stock levels and forecasting needs.Negotiate pricing and contract terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings.Utilize procurement management system thru Sage 100.Conduct regular assessments of supplier performance and compliance with agreements.Prepare purchase orders and ensure accurate documentation for all procurement activities.Assist in implementing Job-Ops in Sage 100RequirementsMust have hands on experience - this role is an individual contributor role.Must have ERP system experience, preferably SAP or EpicorProven ability and willingness to utilize ERP systems to drive ordering decisions.Familiarity with supply chain processes and best practices in procurement management.Proven experience in vendor management, inventory control, and logistics.Strong negotiation skills with a focus on achieving favorable pricing and terms.Ability to build supply chain relationships and leverage during times of difficult material and component constraints.Excellent analytical skills to assess supplier performance and market conditions.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.Experience in analyzing supply risk, demand, and usage variability, to establish the appropriate level of minimum on hand, safety stocks, order quantities, and lead times. Maintain and update these attributes when necessary.Demonstrated ability to track appropriate metrics and present those metrics when required.Efficient and effective in creating purchase orders, sourcing new vendors and suppliers and procuring multiple quotes when required.Experience in providing discipline for cycle count programs and being the gate keeper for inventory adjustments.Proven experience in understanding system transacting in order to identify root cause of inaccurate transacting.Provide excellent internal customer service.Ability to identify both soft and hard cost savings, calculate savings, and make sound decisions on alternative purchasing source companies.Experience working with freight companies and freight brokers to minimize cost and maximize service.Experience with consigned inventory systems.Experience with managing outside processing including effective system transacting.Job Type: Full-timePay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hourExpected hours: 40.00 per weekBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceFlexible scheduleHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftDay shiftExperience:Vendor management: 5 years (Required)ERP systems: 5 years (Required)Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)Purchasing: 5 years (Required)Management: 1 year (Preferred)Work Location: In person
