Generally referred to as a lead position; it is the first level which includes responsibility for technical direction over a group of engineers or who functions as a technical specialist, Subject Matter Expert (SME), formulating and developing advanced engineering concepts.Responsibilities:Analytical skills for troubleshooting designs not working as planned, asking the right questions and finding answers that workIngenuity for using the broad concepts of chemical engineering and applying them to address specific problemsInterpersonal skills in developing positive working relationships with other employees working with the overall project execution process.Math skills for using the principals of advanced math topics including troubleshooting their work, calculus for analysis and designLead team of Process EngineersCDI recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in chosen areaPerform design and sizing calculations for equipment without supervisionIdentify process bottlenecks and devise solutions to resolve.Work collaboratively with other disciplines to recommend changes or upgrades to improve functionality or efficiency.Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities and implemented in work designInterface with other disciplines and clientsAdvanced experience with Industry Standard Engineering Simulation Software (Aspen, HySys, Pro II, and the like)Responsible for tracking and reporting budget and schedule on assigned project work for all team membersReview engineering and vendor drawingsMentors all Process EngineersParticipates in Business DevelopmentProficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ability to work with data to generate periodic reports as may be neededIndependently prepare intermediate to advanced level specifications for project assignments detailing client performance requirements, specific component needs, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawingPrepare engineering sketches, perform engineering calculations and develop analysis models for complex projectPrepare, review and/or approve vendor drawings for compliance with projectInteract and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors and otherSet realistic expectations and ensure assigned projects are completed according to schedule and withinAdhere to CDI and client company quality standards and follow engineering checking and approvalComply with all company and client health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) standards as well as federal and local HSSEActively participate in company and client hazard identification and observation programs, and immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions or incidents to yourInteract with drafting/design group to develop and review engineeringVisit jobsites to evaluate site, project requirements, andVisit vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements/specifications.Prepare inquiry and purchase requisitions as well as bid tabulations associated with equipmentPerform checking of engineering drawings and mathematicalAdhere to safe design practices, while focusing on identifying cost savingSince advancement is based on progressive experience and knowledge, the Process Engineer V must necessarily be able to perform all functions of a Process Engineer IPlan and manage workload, budgets and project resources, requesting assistance asDevelop, review and/or approve conceptual and detailed engineering designAssist in the development of internal design guidelines, specifications, and design controlAssess feasibility of projects by assessing materials, costs and time requirements, applying knowledge and techniques of engineering and advanced mathematics. Utilize complex and repetitive calculationsPrepare or direct preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, and/or construction schedules forAnalyze and examine different strategies, equations and applications to ensure appropriate procedures are applied and/or utilized. Resolve design and developmentManage client relationships and develop repeat businessCompile discipline-specific man-hour estimates, and Total Installed Cost estimates based on client provided project scope.
