Job TitleTax Accountant - Baton Rouge. LAJob RequisitionR0017825Job DescriptionH&E Rentals has an opening for a Sales Tax Accountant to join our team. Reporting directly to the Sales and Use Tax Manager, the Sales Tax Accountant will be based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Baton Rouge, LA, and is responsible for reconciling sales and use tax data, responding to inquiries about sales tax, and ensuring compliance with laws.Key ResponsibilitiesData Reconciling: Reconcile sales and use tax collected to the general ledger and upload data to the reporting system.Tax Compliance: Assist and support the sales tax group responsible for sales and use tax compliance process to ensure reporting deadlines are met efficiently and accurately. This may include end-to-end preparation and/or review of the reporting process, including amending and creating journal entries and responding to tax notices in a timely manner as needed.Auditing Procedures: Assist with external tax audits and SOX compliance procedures.Tax Inquiries: Respond to customer, vendor, and intercompany sales and use tax questions and requests, including determination of sales tax exemption eligibility, issuance/acceptance of exemption certificates where appropriate, and approval/processing of related account corrections and setup.Tax Law Research: Stay up to date on law changes related to sales/use tax reporting.Organizational Processes: Help create and maintain sales and use tax process procedures and tax matrices. Provide feedback and input for department process improvements.Special Assignment: Assist with special projects as assigned.Job QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred.Experience: 1-3 years of multi-state sales/use tax experience preferredTechnical Experience: Previous experience with ERP systems (i.e., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.) and Vertex (O-series and Returns) is a plus.Technology Proficiency: Demonstrate strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including utilizing pivot tables, v-lookups, etc. Ability to use other Microsoft Office applications.Skills: Possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple projects are essential.EOE/AA Disabled/Veterans
