Our client, an Elkhart County manufacturer is adding a Senior Staff Accountant to their team. Reports to a Strong Controller who is an excellent, mentoring-style manager! Job Overview:The Senior Staff Accountant plays a critical role in managing and analyzing the financial operations of our manufacturing company. This position is responsible for overseeing inventory management, cost accounting, and month-end close processes. The Senior Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller and other finance team members to ensure accurate financial reporting, cost efficiency, and compliance with accounting standards. This role will work a hybrid schedule!Key Responsibilities:Cost Accounting:Analyze and monitor production costs, labor costs, and material costs.Prepare and review cost accounting reports, including variance analysis and cost allocations.Assist in the development and maintenance of standard cost systems.Work with operations to understand and analyze cost drivers and identify opportunities for cost reduction.Inventory Management:Oversee the accounting and reconciliation of inventory, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.Conduct periodic inventory counts and ensure accurate reporting of inventory levels.Analyze inventory variances and work with production teams to resolve discrepancies.Monitor inventory aging and obsolescence, and assist in the preparation of inventory reserves.Month-End Close:Lead and manage month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion.Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and other adjustments.Reconcile general ledger accounts, including inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and manufacturing overhead.Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports for review by senior leadership.Financial Analysis & Reporting:Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to production and inventory.Provide financial analysis to support decision-making, including margin analysis, break-even analysis, and profitability assessments.Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by management.Compliance & Internal Controls:Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls related to inventory and cost accounting processes.Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.Process Improvement:Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve data accuracy.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.CPA or CMA certification preferred.Experience:Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a manufacturing environment.Strong experience in cost accounting and inventory management.Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.Skills:In-depth knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.Work Environment:Work primarily in an office setting within a manufacturing facility.Occasional visits to production areas to observe processes and conduct inventory counts.Some remote work/hybrid scheduleCompensation: $75,000-$95,000 depending on experience.ZRCFSLI-LT1LI-HybridINNOV2024Click here to apply online
