Adecco Creative and Marketing has partnered with a renowned educational company to hire a production editor.This ongoing contract is 28hrs/week, $30/hr, M-F 9-5.Responsibilities:Copy editor checks for quality assurance of text at manuscript stage and in layouts/typeset pages as well as component materials such as jackets, covers, and preliminary marketing editions. Copy editor works at present only digitally, with Word and Acrobat, but should be able to work with physical proofs.In addition, copy editor assists with quality checks on ebook files in PDF and e-reader formatsCopy editor is responsible for checking select details against information in our product database and in using provided reference materials such as lists of terms and style bibles.Copy editor is responsible for learning branding and school market guidelines, as well as preparing and editing production material.Large scale projects such as proofread of complete book within working hours and very heavy corrections checks to be considered within scope of roleQualifications:Excellent copyediting and proofreading skillsPersonable and professional demeanor with strong written and in-person communication skillsStrong knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuationAbility to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of qualityStrong computer skills including Acrobat markupFamiliarity with The Chicago Manual of StyleProofreading and copy editing for professional print publishing or a related field such as advertising; children's media and/or book publishing experience a plusBenefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401k plan.
