For more information, please visit Self CheckIntroductionThe Department of Information Technology (DoIT) provides support to state agencies, the Executive Office of the Governor, the Governor's coordinating offices, and a variety of independent agencies within the Executive Branch.Striving to provide the highest level of customer service to its internal and external customers, DoIT supports Maryland's agencies and commissions through its leadership and strategic direction for Information Technology and Telecommunications, establishing a long range, target technology architecture, encouraging cross agency collaboration and advocating best practices for operations and project management.Main PurposeAs the Internal and External Affairs Intern, you will assist DoIT staff in developing and creating engaging content, populating and maintaining DoIT social media pages, and working with DoIT staff to keep our website current. The intern would also help the Chief of Staff and the Communications Specialist to leverage LinkedIn to recruit qualified candidates for open positions. All projects and content will align with the Department's overall communications strategy.Position DutiesCreate and develop digital multimedia (written/audio/video) content for internal and external stakeholders.Articulate a variety of technical subject matters in plain language that is easily understood by a variety of audiences.Use social media, especially LinkedIn, to assist with the recruitment of qualified candidates.Provide support by taking photographs and videos to be used in promotional media. Edit the video and photographs to incorporate them into the final product.Collaborate closely with identified DoIT personnel to help facilitate multimedia content creation and apply it to the appropriate channels.Deliver finished content to DoIT staff while managing multiple deadlines.Utilize software applications in multiple technology media systems, such as graphics, animation, text, and sound.Maintain practical knowledge of current industry practices and 508 compliance.Learn and adhere to state accessibility guidelinesMinimum QualificationsEducation: Must be at least a Junior or Senior at a College or University in Maryland.Must have a GPA of 3.0.Transcript and Resume must be provided when applying.Preferred QualificationsExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong organizational skills.Ability to craft and deliver effective external presentations.Ability to communicate complex, technical information to multiple audiences clearlySound analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.Self-starter that can work independently and on a team.
