If so, we have an opportunity for you!The Special Education Teacher will oversee the education and training of students with physical, emotional, mental, and learning disabilities who will design and deliver lessons geared towards the individual needs and capabilities of the students under their supervision. Duties include:Differentiate curriculum to support students learning styles and current achievement levelsProvide clear goals and objectives for each student; create written reports and report cards for each studentTeach content and skills to assigned students utilizing common core aligned curriculum and approved courses of studyDevelop strategies for maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning and utilize effective teaching methods; employ a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to the maturity, interests, and needs of each studentIdentify need for diagnostic testing, identify student capabilities and monitor student progress on a regular basis to ensure that goals are being metMaintain accurate and complete student records and complete all record keeping/ administrative responsibilities on time as required by law and Pinnacle policiesConsult and collaborate with colleagues and outside professionalsEstablish and maintain positive relationships with students based upon trust and mutual respectRequirements:Bachelor's degree in special education; Master's degree preferredValid Connecticut state endorsement 165-Special Education: Comprehensive, grades K-12Minimum 2 years' experience teaching special education student populations with language-based learning differencesFamiliar with the IEP process and the collection of progress monitoring dataCommitment to helping children of all abilities reach their full potentialExcellent communication skills, and a collaborative, enthusiastic style to fit with our small-team environmentCompany OverviewWe are an equal opportunity employer and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
