The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist role involves developing and implementing compliance programs for health and safety, including Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, and Waste Management, while conducting audits and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance. Committed to sustainability and cutting-edge technology, they continuously push the boundaries of material science to meet the evolving demands of their customers.DescriptionAs the Environmental Health and Safety Specialist:Develop and implement safety compliance programs, including Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Entry, Emergency Action, Fire Prevention, Exposure Control, Waste Minimization, Waste Management, and Contingency Planning.Support health and safety audits and inspections, offering practical recommendations for corrective actions to enhance workplace safety.Assist in creating health and safety management systems by drafting standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and effective training materials.Manage hazardous waste processes, including waste characterization, conducting satellite area inspections, providing training, and liaising with regulatory agencies.Design and deliver training programs on key topics such as Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, Bloodborne Pathogens, Biosafety, Fall Protection, Ladder Safety, Hazardous Waste Management, Respiratory Protection, RCRA/DOT regulations, and HAZWOPER.Participate in industrial hygiene initiatives, including personal air sampling, indoor air quality assessments, surface wipe sampling, and qualitative evaluations.Conduct job safety analyses and lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement preventive strategies.ProfileBachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is required.At least 3 years of experience in the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) sector is required.In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and familiarity with EPA, NHDES, CWA, CAA, RCRA, and other federal, state, and local regulations is essential.40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training is preferred but not mandatory.Professional certification in EH&S (such as CSP, ASP, OHST, or similar) is preferred but not required.Must successfully complete a drug screening, physical examination, and background check.Job OfferCompetitive salary with performance-based incentives.Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance.Opportunities for professional growth and development through training and certification programs.A collaborative and dynamic work environment focused on safety and innovation.Participation in exciting projects that make a real impact on workplace safety and environmental compliance.Flexible work schedule with the potential for remote work options.Supportive team culture that values employee contributions and teamwork.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
