Molecular Research Technician IWe are seeking a Molecular Research Technician I to join our dynamic laboratory team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a principal investigator or lab manager to perform molecular biology and genetic experiments, including whole genome sequencing, PCR, and phenotypic/genotypic characterization. Responsibilities include maintaining lab safety, processing blood specimens, performing experimental assays, and preparing reagents. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.Molecular Research Technician I Responsibilities Include: Serve as a laboratory technician working under Serve as a laboratory technician working under the supervision of a principal investigator (Research/Clinical Scientist) or contractor laboratory manager/supervisor in performing laboratory procedure and experiments as required for the phenotypic and genotypic characterization of MDROPerform experimental work including serological assays, chemical assays, genetic and molecular biology procedures, growth of solid and liquid culturesPerform routine laboratory duties required for the smooth and safe operation of laboratory such as maintaining a supply of clean glassware, properly disposing of hazardous biological and chemical waste, preparing reagents, and maintaining an inventory of laboratory chemicalsCollect and process blood specimens from submitting laboratoriesSend the shipping supplies to submitting facilities and laboratoriesVerify analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity and references ranges for test methodsMaintain a laboratory notebook in which accurate and complete records of laboratory work is maintained in accordance with accepted standardsFollow laboratory SOPs and specific written experimental protocols as well as oral instructions in performing assigned experimental workSubmit reports and data summaries when applicableComply with occupational health and safety standards and other applicable regulations and guidelines which may include medical surveillanceParticipate in the development of research protocols and grant proposals and in the conduct of research related to MRSN activitiesAttend relevant seminars, scientific conferences and meetings to the MRSNOperate systems/methodologies in order to produce timely and accurate data for patients, Quality Control (QC), and proficiency testingEnsures quality specimens for laboratory testingReport clinical data accurately and efficiently to ensure givers receive timely patient informationWorks to improve and expand the skill set of others involved with this effort by communicating and maintaining team knowledgePerforms other job-related duties as assignedMolecular Research Technician I Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: AS or BS in Biology, Molecular Biology, or MicrobiologyProficiency with whole genome sequencing of bacterial samplesExperience with performing and interpreting real-time PCR data from bacterial samplesProficiency in the use of Illumina and Pacific Biosciences instrumentsSkilled in performing rapid response testing for potential Carbapenemase Producing Organisms (CPO)Capability to perform genomic extraction, library preparation and whole genome sequencing on bacterial surveillance samplesAbility to work in a fast paced environment using critical thinking skills and decisive judgement with minimal supervisionAbility to perform work that requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, grasping and repetitive motionStrong teamwork and collaboration abilitiesLifting up to 50 poundsOccasional stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling climbing, and overhead lifting1-3 years of experience in clinical microbiology or molecular biology outside of an academic setting1-3 years of experience with Oxford Nanopore instruments1-3 years of experience working in a high-throughput sequencing environmentGLP/GCP trainingMust pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee FederalCompany Information:Cherokee Nation Operation Solutions (CNOS) is a part of Cherokee Federal - the division of tribally owned federal contracting companies owned by Cherokee Nation Businesses.
