Inc. is a family owned and operated beverage distributor. KBI distributes domestic, craft, and import beer, along with ciders, seltzers, and a growing portfolio of other beverages in the Chicago suburbs. The HR Generalist role at Kozol Bros. Inc. is an opportunity to practice a wide variety of HR responsibilities and requires a balance of interpersonal, organizational and multitasking skills in order to be successful. This role encompasses key functions such as recruitment, benefits, leave management, payroll, employee relations, and application of employment laws. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage the recruitment life cycle from requisition to onboarding, e.g., job postings, phone screens, interview coordination, job offer, pre-employment processes, and support new hire orientation. Ensure accurate entry of all payroll data and process weekly payroll for both company branches.Create and send weekly payroll reportsParticipate in the strategy and accurately administer the employee benefits plans, including health, dental, vision insurance, disability and 401(k) Plans. Launch and lead year-round benefit education to promote KBI benefits and offerings; monitor annual wellness screening completion status.Manage disability leave administration and workers' compensation claims according to policies, plans and laws.Assist management with workplace conflicts, conduct investigations when necessary and work to find amicable solutions.Provide management with information or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues.Organize recognition, rewards, and service anniversaries.With the support of the management team, update and maintain company policies. Keep current and follow employment laws with appropriate application to KBI policies. Support efforts to update and maintain all job descriptions.Participate in HR projects such as event planning, job fairs, etc.Maintain employee files following record retention guidelines, company org chart, and responsible for various monthly reports. Ability to travel to the Normal, IL as needed is required (approximately once per month). Other admin responsibilities as assigned that support the organization and BOD.Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree in human resources or a related field plus minimum of 3 years HR experience is highly preferred. Equivalency of some college plus relevant HR experience may be considered. Working knowledge of payroll processes is required.HRCI or SHRM certification is preferred. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesHigh level of integrity and judgment with the ability to manage and protect confidential information.Build trust and credibility to develop strong relationships across the company. Thorough knowledge of federal and state labor laws to correlate how it applies to the organization and employees.Fair and equitable. Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written. Ability to coach, build consensus and resolve conflict in a positive manner.You must be detail oriented with demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness.Excellent collaboration, teamwork and interpersonal skills; strong reporting, and problem-solving skills.Must be able to multi-task, plan accordingly, and meet deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required, including intermediate experience in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Previous experience in navigating HRIS platforms, processing benefits enrollments in portals, running reports, and looking up relevant employee information in payroll system. Demonstrated presentation skills and comfort presenting to all levels of the organization. Ability to improve processes for efficiency in administration.
