Title: Manager, Regulator Affairs & ComplianceLocation: Atlanta, GADuration: FTE, Direct Hire As the Manager, Regulatory Affairs & Compliance, you will assist and support the company by liaising with internal and external stakeholders on matters of regulatory compliance. Assist the Director with strategic direction and contribute to the business-wide strategy. Serve as a point-of-entry in communicating with regulatory bodies, including FMC, DOT, and other state and local investigators and inspectors. Assist both internal and external customers in resolving complex issues requiring specialized knowledge of a functional area and/or broad knowledge across functionsResponsibilities:Serve as a point-of-entry in communicating with regulatory bodies, including FMC, DOT, and other state and local investigators and inspectors. Represent the client's business interests in governmental proceedings and respond to requests for information from regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance and timeliness. Develop and maintain professional relationships in federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Evaluate business needs and recommend process improvements designed to enhance regulatory compliance. Lead the analysis, design, and implementation of company-wide cross-functional projects and process improvement efforts for regulatory-related matters. Support the department and senior leadership by providing information and data that will assist them to make informed decisions Provide staff with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving complex, escalated complaints or disputes. Lead training and orientation programs to inform the staff on compliance policies and standards. Assist internal customers in resolving complex issues requiring specialized knowledge of a functional area and/or broad knowledge across functions. Maintain current knowledge of regulations applicable to the company. Monitor potential regulatory changes affecting company operations and lead efforts to mitigate impacts. Work closely with other departments on process improvement and communication flow.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in the Maritime Industry or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Possess specialized knowledge of 5 or more years. Prior project management experience preferred. Previous experience working closely with a governmental body responding to requests and audits is preferred. Recognize and attend to multiple facets in unfamiliar issues and problems by applying a logical and systematic approach to analyzing and assembling relevant information from multiple sources. Make sound decisions in ambiguous situations not covered by explicit rules by applying general principles and guidelines. Adjust decisions to meet with changing circumstances or new information and provide a well thought out rationale for the decision. Actively share information with others. Reinforce people for contributing ideas and opinions even when their views are at odds and show personable side by admitting mistakes. Actively attend to what others are saying. Compose effective and professional written communications and documentation for non-routine and/or technical matters. Present information and ideas in a systematic and logical sequence of writing. Knowledge and understanding of most shipping terms, routings, schedules and the general practices of various countries, carriers, ports and terminals for job assignments and the willingness to clarify shipping terms unique to a location. Proficient using MS Office, Word, and Excel spreadsheets and other software appropriate to work demands.
