Primary Purpose:Perform general bookkeeping and maintain department financial records, including department activity funds.Education/Certification: High school diploma or GEDSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practicesProficient in keyboarding, 10-key numerical data entry, and file maintenanceAbility to use software to develop or maintain spreadsheets and do word processingAbility to maintain accurate and auditable recordsAbility to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlinesEffective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsBilingual- Spanish (oral and written) preferredExperience:Previous accounting or bookkeeping experienceSkyward software knowledge preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties:AccountingMaintain complete and systematic records of campus financial transactions according to established procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.Process and account for all money generated and distributed in department activities, including receipt of cash and preparing and making cash deposits.Maintain inventory of departments fixed assets, equipment, and supplies.Work with bank officials to make inquiries and resolve discrepancies in account records.Balance general ledger and subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.Examine all computerized general ledger transactions for accuracy; make corrections as needed and inform supervisor of problems.Maintain general ledger transactions by transferring subsidiary account summariesMaintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.Record details of financial transactions in appropriate journals and subsidiary ledgers.Transfer funds between accounts as directed by finance department. RecordsPrepare monthly and other periodic department financial reports.Assist with preparation of financial statements, income statements, and cost reports to reflect financial condition of charter.Assist with department budget preparation.Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.OtherMaintain confidentiality.Any and all duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor.
