The opportunity:Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager will be responsible for directing all manufacturing for the Virginia location. The Production Manager is responsible for directing all production-related activities, ensuring that all resources are trained and developed to work safely and efficiently to meet or exceed customer expectations. Through their previous experience the Production Manager will have significant knowledge of directing multiple shifts in the Coatings and/or Machining industries. They will utilize this knowledge to assist customers by understanding their requirements and providing solutions. They will have the ability to take customer requirements and translate those requirements into repeatable processes. The Production Manager will be responsible for creating and maintaining a work culture that aligns with Kymera's core values and ensuring that quality, safety, production and customer satisfaction standards are met.Primary Responsibilities:LeadershipLead in the development of team(s) performance metrics, the subsequent evaluation of team performance and the development/implementation of corrective action programs in the event that performance falls short of expectations.Ensure adequate training of all team members to consistently meet stated business objectives. Identify and acquire internal and or external training resources as necessary to assist in eliminating deficiencies. Lead in the career development of Team Leaders and production staff.Lead in the development of personal performance standards for all team members and the subsequent evaluation of performance.Lead Kymera - TSS production teams, ensuring that quality, safety, production and customer satisfaction standards are met while maintaining a work culture that aligns with Kymera's core values.Production ExecutionDirect the production planning function ensuring appropriate resources are available and allocated to meet short- and long-term production demand. In the event of a capacity constraint, the development of short- and long-term solutions to address the deficiency. Ensure the performance of production teams is aligned with stated business objectives, specifically those surrounding turnaround time, quality, throughput, productivity, cycle time and safety. In effect, the Production Manager is responsible for the quality, quantity, timeliness and associated cost of every product produced. The Production Manager should actively review several key production metrics to identify variances or opportunities for improvement and proactively develop recommendations. Recommendations may vary in scale and cost; however, Production Manager must be capable of quantifying recommendations in a meaningful manner for approval by executive management. Continuously monitor team performance, identify opportunities for improvement and facilitate the implementation of process or quality improvement programs.Where process deficiencies exist, provide leadership in terms of generating solutions for the identified deficiency. The Production Manager is the primary catalyst for operational-oriented improvement initiatives and should be consistently and systematically seeking out ways to improve production operations. The Production Manager is expected to have sufficient technical expertise to lead in the development of solutions but should also be capable of identifying technical gaps and soliciting input from internal/external subject matter experts.The Production Manager is responsible for continuous improvement initiatives and should routinely facilitate in the development of new and innovative methods, tools and equipment for improved productivity and quality. Review all warranty reports, CAR's & NCRs attributed to product produced by the local operation. Participate or lead in the development and implementation of corrective action. Complete NCRs ensuring that the solution is sufficient, sustainable and fully implemented.Ensure all team members are aware of warranty, NCR & CAR issues and are trained on corrective actions. Manage production availability for work required after hours. Ensure staff are available and customer requirements can be satisfied outside normal business hours. Quality, Health & SafetyEnsure safety policies and operating practices are implemented and followed in the area of responsibility. Identify deficiencies and take corrective action as necessary. The Production Manager is responsible for completing government legislated documentation in the event of an accident and ensuring accurate materials are submitted within the required time frame. The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that modified duties are offered and all return-to-work possibilities are explored. Ensure that strict 5S standards are maintained throughout the operation. Ensure daily and preventive maintenance responsibilities are set-up and assigned to work cell staff and completed according to schedule. Ensure all processes are in compliance with ISO 9001 and QP6/QP1 programs.Document process changes and involve QA staff in the event of a functional change.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Requirements:Minimum 10 years' experience in a Machine Shop or Thermal Spray service environment.Minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership role. (production, operations or customer service)Associate degree in Machining, Engineering, or related experience requiredEngineering Part/Assembly document reading including GD&T requiredFluent in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)Practical knowledge of process improvement tools: Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, Five S, EH&S best practices, etc...QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:Travel required, including international: Strong customer focusStrong mechanical analysis, problem-solving, concept modeling, and mathematical skillsStrong passion, high energy, and enthusiasm for growthStrong time management, organizational skills, and ability to set priorities for multiple tasksAbility to effectively communicate in written or verbal manner with individuals from all areas of the organizationAbility to work in a production environment, if requiredAbility to work flexible hours and/or travel depending on the needs of the department and/or businessAbility to read and understand variance analysis reports for the purpose of actioning improvement plansContinuous improvement mindsetEffective decision-making skills Experience leading production teams, Maintenance teams and participating in EH&S initiatives Experience with robotic automation manufacturing processes Enthusiastic approach to resolution of employee and customer issuesExcellent interpersonal skills
