Position OverviewHeirloom's Director of Data & Insights is responsible for directing the full stack of data engineering & science products, along with third party channel-integrated platforms that are key to Heirloom's strategy & insight.The Director plays a pivotal role to the success of the business by driving data / tech stack strategy, creating insight, maximizing revenue-outcomes through pricing & channel distribution, and automating business processes.Essential FunctionsLeading data strategy & tech stack by:Collaborating with Heirloom's executive team & department directorsProviding product-manager style direction to data engineering & analytics teamsDemocratizing access to data & reporting across the organizationUnlocking business insight using systematic reporting and ad hoc analyses at the business, property, and market-level for internal and external stakeholdersChampioning enhancement & optimization of Heirloom's revenue management in each of its key parts:our industry honed pricing algorithmbest-in-class vendors for the short-term rental industrysystem inputs to optimize property-level revenue in response to live market conditions.SEO & review data for our product in marketplacesDirecting Channel Distribution team to maximize impact of strategy for customer acquisition & journey using: our booking platform (Guesty) & integrated third party distribution channels (e.g. AirBnb, VRBO)digital advertisingonline brand presenceAutomating business processes that empower Heirloom guests, team members, or stakeholders to have the right information at the right timeRelevant Tech StackCloud IT Infrastructure: GCP (& G Workspace)Data Warehouse: Big QuerySoftware Code: PythonBI & Visualization: TableauBooking & Channel Management: GuestyEngineering Documentation: CodaProject Management: AsanaAccounting System: Sage IntacctRequisitesDigital product, analytics, or engineering level management experience that includes some oversight of cloud IT infrastructure, data pipelines, data warehousing, & software engineeringProficiency in statistical analysis & data scientific methods on numeric data in industry contextsUtilization of reporting from BI & data visualization platforms (e.g. Tableau or Power BI)SQL query language familiarityAbility to travel to an Heirloom market each quarterDesirable Candidate Qualities Can IncludeProduct-manager level skills for understanding business needs and distilling into data, tech stack, and product / engineering designExperience directing revenue strategy or product in a highly dynamic context where conditions (& resulting data) constantly shift business tactics or product pricingExperience leading a team to optimize / analyze digital customer acquisition through marketplaces, search engines, and/or digital advertisingA deep technical background in data science with a passion to use interpretable methods of inference that business stakeholders can understandExperience analyzing P&L's, investment metrics, or real estate along with pro forma'sExperience developing better practices for leading and motivating virtual teams spanning onshore and offshoreA passion for distilling thoughtful analysis into concise / crisp forms that convey subtlety with simplicitySchedule & CompensationThe Director of Data & Insights is a full time, salaried role that can be performed remotely or may take advantage of a hybrid work model based out of the Heirloom Office in Boston, Savannah, or New Orleans. Travel to an Heirloom office or market should be expected for 2-3 days every 8-12 weeks. During the first three months in the position, training will potentially include a greater amount of travel.Compensation for this position is commensurate with experience.Benefits included as part of compensation package including health, dental and vision insurance, 401K, paid sick and vacation leave, preferential employee stays at Heirloom properties and paid parental leave.
