Role DescriptionThe Inventory Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of inventory management within the distribution center. This role ensures that inventory levels are accurately reflected in financial records, optimizing inventory investment while minimizing financial risk. The Inventory Financial Controller will collaborate with finance, procurement, logistics, and warehouse operations teams to align inventory practices with financial goals. In addition, this role is the main point of contact for the management of the distribution facility.ResponsibilitiesInventory Financial Management:Monitor and maintain accurate financial records of inventory levels in the distribution centerEnsure that inventory valuations are correctly reflected in the financial statementsAnalyze inventory-related financial data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and risksDevelop and implement inventory accounting policies and procedures to ensure financial complianceServe as the main point of contact for distribution facility managementData Analysis and Reporting:Generate and analyze financial reports related to inventoryProvide financial insights and recommendations to management based on inventory performanceAssist in budgeting and forecasting related to inventory investments and carrying costsProcess Improvement:Identify and implement process improvements to enhance inventory financial accuracy and efficiencyWork with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory turnover, reduce obsolescence, and align inventory with financial objectivesDevelop and enforce financial controls and best practices for inventory managementCoordination and Communication:Collaborate with the finance, procurement, logistics, and warehouse teams to ensure alignment between physical inventory and financial recordsCommunicate inventory-related financial issues and resolutions to relevant stakeholders, including senior managementLiaise with auditors and provide necessary documentation for inventory-related financial auditsCompliance and Documentation:Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulations related to inventory controlMaintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation for inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, and adjustmentsSupport internal and external audits by providing necessary financial records and inventory documentationMinimum Skills / QualificationsUndergraduate degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related discipline Minimum of 5 years of accounting experienceProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with integrated ERP systemsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with management and outside customers Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and technical skillsGood team dynamics and possess proficient planning and organizational skillsMust be able to work on-site dailyLimited travel (Preferred Skills / QualificationsManufacturing or cost accounting experience preferredExperience with SAP and Warehouse Management (WM) softwareExperience with inventory controlCompensationThe anticipated base annual salary range for this role is between $106,000 and 160,000 per year. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate.
