Since 2008, Great American's Environmental Division has offered an exclusive focus on environmental insurance solutions to a wide variety of commercial customers. The Division offers a complete portfolio of environmental insurance products, including contractor's and fixed premises pollution liability insurance products.Job Functions and ResponsibilitiesHas responsibility for risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability per divisional objectives for renewal and new business opportunities.Uses independent judgment and initiative to support business goals.Maintains a high level of customer service.Analyzes coverage and limit requests and decides what terms to offer. Prices business in accordance with company guidelines.Assesses risk quality and compliance within company guidelines and initiates appropriate loss prevention actions.Reviews submission documents including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and other environmental reports, consults online resources and liaises with in-house risk control and other colleagues to support underwriting decisions.Works with legal department to manuscript policy language.Negotiates with brokers on pricing and coverage.Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers in order to attract and retain profitable business.Visits agents, brokers, and producers nationwide in order to retain existing accounts, build and maintain business relationships, and develop new relationships in support of divisional objectives.Interprets, explains, and markets products and services.Develops creative solutions for new opportunities.Attends and participates in Division events, broker appreciation events, industry conferences.Applies underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations. Actively participates in daily collaboration meetings, shares knowledge and experience with others and provides guidance and assistance to lower level associates. May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.Performs other duties as assigned. Job RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.Field of Study: Environmental, Business or other related discipline.Experience: Generally, 5-7 years of related environmental underwriting experience.
