Further details are available on the company website at: .About the Position The firm is looking for a dedicated professional to join our Analytics group, which undertakes analysis of energy markets, projects, and energy policy throughout the United States. The person in this role has an opportunity to be a thought leader by preparing analyses and reports that advance energy policies and projects.The energy analyst will play an integral role in supporting and collaborating with the team internally to ensure client expectations are surpassed. The analyst should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with the team and efficiently communicating information to our clients. Excellent opportunity for growth.Responsibilities:Quantify the potential impact of policy changes on power markets, ratepayers, and asset valuations.Forecast power market outcomes (e.g., wholesale and retail electricity prices, generator dispatch, etc.).Perform economic and statistical analyses of power market data, financial reports, and rate filings.Present analysis results and reports to internal and external stakeholders.Follow industry developments and identify trends, opportunities, and risks relevant to stakeholders.Required QualificationsModeling or Programming: excellence in Excel and/or programming languages (e.g., Python, R, etc.) with the ability to create and manipulate large datasets, perform statistical analysis, and visualize results.Industry Expertise: understanding the energy industry and its regulations, including energy market structures, pricing mechanisms, key stakeholders, and trends.Critical Reasoning: able to break down complex problems into smaller components; identify root causes, biases, inconsistencies, and implications; and evaluate arguments and evidence from multiple perspectives.Communication Skills: promotes open and proactive communication, fostering an environment that encourages open discussions among team members and embraces constructive feedback and diverse perspectives.Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R), statistical analysis packages, and data visualization tools.Experience electric market models (e.g., EnCompass and/or SERVM) to analyze and forecast wholesale electricity prices, generator dispatch, and system reliability.Experience in utility ratemaking.Proficiency in asset valuation techniques and financial modeling.Candidates may work remotely and periodically travel to attend in-person meetings when necessary.
