The Controller plans, directs and facilitates the accounting operations of accounting principles, processes and procedures. The Controller works collaboratively with executives, department heads, and personnel to drive financial success for the company.Key Duties and Responsibilities:• Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing responsibilities, and a variety of reconciliations.Responsible for month-end and year-end closing and producing periodic financial statements.Maintains fixed asset register, insurance list, depreciation, prepayment, and accrual schedules and other month-end/year-end schedules.Assists in the preparation of documentation for financial statements, audits and tax filings.Produce annual budget and forecasts and report significant budget differences to management.• Works closely with the HR Department to ensure the accuracy of a weekly payroll cycle. Provides guidance, when necessary, conducts checks and balances, other accounting activities as required.• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of internal controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.• Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance.• Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.• Works with the HR Department to provide needed support and information for audits including 401k, Worker's Compensation, General Liability Insurance, 5500 and more.• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.Required Attributes Strong leadership, mentorship, and interpersonal skills with the ability to take initiative and delegate effectively.Strong time management and organizational skills, and attention to detail and accuracy.Team player with can do attitude and problem solving skillsDemonstrate integrity and the ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality, flexibility, sound judgement, strong intuitive skills, and is results driven.Education, Skills, and Experience:Minimum 5 years of proven experience in various levels of accounting in the construction industry required.• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.• Proficient to advanced knowledge in QuickBooks Online/Desktop, Excel, and other Microsoft Office suite productivity tools.Experience with migration of ERP systems is a plus.Interested in hearing more?
