Our client, an Automotive Supplier in the Novi Michigan area, is seeking a Senior Customs Specialist.This position is critical in helping to ensure compliance with all U.S. Trade Compliance Laws, reducing areas of risk and maximizing areas of opportunity. It will involve assisiting in executing a robust trade compliance program for the organization by developing and implementing process improvements, policies, procedures, training, KPI's, and cost savings initiatives.Areas of Responsibility:-Value Reconciliation-Free Trade Agreements-Special Tariff Provisions-In Bond shipment compliance-Customs Trade Partnership Agreement Against Terrorism (CTPAT)-Post Entry audits and corrections as required-Broker Management: scorecards, regular meetings, compliance audits, bill/rate monitoring-US HTS Classification-Duty OptimizationDuties:-Respond to broker requests regarding entry creation-Review and submit Post Entry requests to brokers and track the status in a database-Work with external service providers to execute compliance processes related to tariff classification, daily and monthly audits, value reconciliation, KPI's-Maintain the Data Entry Warehouse using broker data and customized ACE reports-Monitor tariff rate quotas, ADD/CVD cases, and exclusions related to Section 232 and 301-Support compliance initiatives in Canada-US and Canada recordkeeping through broker FTP and maintaining the status within the Entry Data Warehouse database.Desired Skills and ExperienceRequirements:Bachelor's Degree in International Business/Logistics/Business Management or similar major5+ years of experience in U.S. import compliance experienceAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
