Fully Remote - Undergraduate Public Policy Internship (Unpaid, but Course Credit available)Commitment: Approximately 15 hours per week for a full semester (approximately 3 months)Compensation: Unpaid, but course credit available (2 credits previously awarded based on school parameters)Program Overview:At bmgstrategies, we believe in the importance of providing students with opportunities to build the foundation for their careers with mentors who can guide and inspire them. Our Public Policy Internship program is designed to empower college students in their junior or senior year through hands-on experience in government affairs and strategic communications. Interns will engage in meaningful work that supports our clients' public policy, advocacy, and outreach engagements, equipping them with the skills and insights needed as they enter the field. Program Objectives:Provide college students with practical experience in public policy and strategic communications.Develop research, analysis, and outreach skills.Foster an understanding of legislative and regulatory landscapes.Enhance written and oral communication skills.Cultivate analytical and strategic thinking in a collaborative environment.Roles and Responsibilities:Roles and responsibilities will vary, based on client needs but could include and not be limited to:Research and Analysis:Assist in conducting comprehensive research on various public policy issues.Analyze legislative and regulatory changes and their impact on clients.Assist in preparation of detailed reports and policy briefs based on research findings.Monitoring Government Activities:Work with our policy team to track and monitor critical government activities, including legislative sessions, committee meetings, and public hearings.Summarize and report on relevant government activities to inform client strategies.Outreach and Engagement:Assist in developing outreach strategies and tactics for client engagements.Support in preparing for engagement and engaging with state and local government officials and staff.Assist with coordination and participation in meetings, events, and advocacy efforts.Qualifications:Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in college, majoring in public policy, political science, communications, or a related field.Exceptional written and oral communication skills.Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.Ability to work collaboratively in a collegial environment.Motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.Learning Outcomes:Gain practical experience in public policy research and analysis.Understand the legislative and regulatory processes and their impact on clients.Develop skills in strategic communication and public affairs.Enhance career readiness with hands-on experience and mentorship.Application Process:How to Apply: Submit a resume, cover letter, and a writing sample to careers@ Applicants should confirm the credit approval process with school administration.
