The Carpentry Division Estimator is accountable for all activities required to estimate projects and bidding requirements of the Company Client DetailsFounded in 1949, my client is recognized as a leading General contractor in the Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast. They are known for providing top tier construction management on a wide variety of projects ranging 1 Million to over $2 billion. DescriptionSupport Carpentry Division by providing accurate and complete takeoffsSolicit Subcontractor and Supplier proposals through eQuote or direct contactEnsure proposals clearly define the scope of work including exclusions and clarificationsAssist in preparation of purchasing requisitions and subcontract contract reviews.Works closely with the CD Project Manager or on handoff of awarded workProviding qualifications and written assumptions that can be discussed with the Pre-construction Team when reviewing our estimatesThoroughly understand the Carpentry scope of the projectDeveloping relationships with architects and engineers in the communityThoroughly review, read and reread the project plans, specifications and Bid requirements.Cultivate and qualify new subcontractors and suppliers for bid listsClarify specificationsPromote company goodwill between the company, General & sub/supplier.Do quantity take-offs and estimates for the company's own forces and to fill in when no subcontractor/supplier bid exists.Discover discrepancies in plans and specifications for clarificationSchedule and conduct hand-off meetings with Project Managers and Carpentry ForemenProvide detailed conceptual estimates from pre-construction schematic and design development documents. Plan, coordinate, review, verify and analyze all aspects of estimates and estimate presentation.Review all Subcontractor estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to inclusion in CD and proposal.Participate in presentations to corporate management.May assist in the preparation of studies, materials and methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required.Assist with business development efforts in securing new workLead and manage budgeting, estimating, and bidding of projects from initial RFP to submittal, singularly or with a team depending on the level of complexity and time permitted.Lead preconstruction for awarded projects and assist with the initial kick off and operations set up when construction commences.Attend meetings as necessary to make sure the transition process proceeds smoothlyProfileMinimum of 5 years of experience as a carpenter, estimator, or in a related role within the construction industry.Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
