The Human Resources department is at the heart of Shrub Oak International School, providing internal customer service to all stay at all levels so they can focus on providing exceptional care to our students. Come grow with us!Essential Functions - Primary duties of the positionONBOARDING & TRAININGDevelop, facilitate and track new hires from offer letter acceptance through Orientation. Coordinating with Staff Development as owner of communications for all onboarding.Ownership of compliance of all requirements and documentation of new hires.Oversee the processing of all employment paperwork to include applicable background screening and pre-employment testing in conjunction with Talent Acquisition. Ownership of ongoing compliance tracking and administration for all staff. Manages HR annual required training.EMPLOYEE RELATIONSIncludes all aspects of human resources to staff interactions such as (but not limited to) taking complaints, moderating mediations, development plan and/or termination oversight, and conducting investigations.Direct employees on leave of absence processes, overseeing the filing, tracking and return-to-work process.Provide an open door to employees who need recommendations to assist in improving performance or guidance with career development.HR ADMINISTRATIONGo-to knowledge expert guiding management team on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, recommending best practices. Stays current on all updates.HRIS system maintenance and auditing.Collaborates with the management team and HR Director to assist with maintaining and updating all job descriptions.Conducts stay and exit interviews, compiling trending data to communicate to leadership.Collaborate with HR Director to develop and implement consistent policies and training programs that align with the business needs and values. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.Handles benefit administration, inquiries and filing as needed. Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesBA in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration or related field is preferred. College degree in progress with 4+ years relevant work experience in described tasks is required.Minimum of 2 years as an HR Generalist is required with a degree. Experience in an educational or residential setting similar to Shrub Oak is preferred.Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local laws is required. Advanced MS Office skill is preferred.2+ years onboarding and training staff is required, experience developing training materials and communications is preferred.Employee relations experience including complaints, investigations, terminations and corrective action oversight is required.Worker's Comp administration experience is preferred.FMLA, PFL and LOA administration experience is required.OSHA compliance and tracking experience is preferred.Understanding of benefit enrollment and tracking is required, experience building benefit plans and rolling out open enrollment is preferred.Work EnvironmentThe work is primarily indoors with a mix of desk/computer, training classes, occasional travel to assist with Job Fairs or other approved recruiting events. Physical DemandsThe position is a mix of sitting for extended periods of time while at a desk/computer, and standing or walking for extended periods of time while training, giving-tours, or recruiting. Must have the ability to lift at least 30 lbs for movement of training/onboarding/recruiting materials and set-up as well as break-down.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time 12 mo/year-round position. Days and hours of work Monday through Friday 9a to 5pm with the ability to flex with managerial approval. Evening and weekend work may be required, as job duties demand but should be minimal.
