Job Type InternshipDescriptionDepartment: CuratorialMentorSupervisor: Marley Trigg StewartInternship Summary:Public Programs at ICP's Center for Visual Culture produces more than 60 public programs a year that promote adult learning and visual literacy within the fields of photography, humanities, and visual culture. Public program events include: The Naomi Rosenblum ICP Talks Photographer Lecture Series, PhotoSLAM, Late Night ICP, Cameras & Coffee, as well as panels, lectures, book signings, film screenings, performances, symposia, Photobook Fest, and more. The Public Programs Intern will work closely with the Public ProgramsCuratorial team to assist in planning, organizing, and executing various public program events and community engagement activities. This role offers hands-on experience in public program production, museum education, and community ternship Project Description:During the internship term, the intern will focus on developing post-program procedures that includes gathering program data through post-program surveys, learning data tracking, hosting in-person focus groups to better understand our audience, and creating content features and recaps for programs. The intern will be involved in various stages of event planning and coordination, from concept development to post-event evaluation.Daily Duties:This role will help with research, development, and organization of future public programs and will specifically set up systems and procedures for data collecting for programs and for post-program recaps. The role will provide hands-on support for program production during events, learning best practices in event production.Learning objectives and skills to be learned:Understand fundamental principles of public program planning, including concept development and timeline creation. Coordinate event logistics for public programs, including setting up the space, engaging with audiences, and AV practices. Gain proficiency in ticketing and marketing software for tasks like attendee registration, RSVP tracking, and data analysis. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive event messaging and coordination. Develop problem-solving skills to address challenges during event planning and execution, adapting quickly to changing circumstances. Learn how to conduct post-event evaluations to assess success, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement. Learn how to promote programs and create post-program engagement entrypointsAdditional Training and Development:The intern will be trained on how to create run of shows and other program production materials. They will learn two ticketing softwares (ACME and Ticketleap) as well as receive basic training in Mailchimp and Survey Monkey. They will attend weekly meetings with the Associate Director of Public Programs and Programs manager and will regularly collaborate with the membership and marketing teams. Part of this role also includes atttending exhibitions and public programs at other institutions, to learn more about the programming and curatorial field.Orientation plan:Introduction to the organization's mission, values, and key stakeholders. Overview of the CuratorialPublic Programs department's goals, strategies, and upcoming events. Familiarization with event management software, databases, and other planning tools. Introduction to other collaborating departments: Marketing and Communications, Development, Education, Finance, and Visitor Experience.RequirementsIntern Qualifications:Proficient familiarity and knowledge in photography, photographic processes, andor visual culture (contemporary or historical) Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail. Professional interaction with speakers, audience members, and team members. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Canva. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Passion for ICP's mission and values.
