Position Overview: Spencer Thomas Group (STG) is currently looking to add to our team of consultants under our PayrollAccountant Consulting Practice We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll Forensic Accountant to examine payroll accounting processes and data files to identify and document discrepancies, root causes and recommendation for resolution. This ideal candidate for this role requires a strong understanding of end-to-end payroll accounting, forensic accounting techniques, and the ability to communicate findings effectively. Responsibilities: Audit historical payroll accounting data and document findings. Communicate audit findings to stakeholders and provide detailed root cause analysis of any discrepancies and irregularities and recommend action steps for resolution. Assess end-to-end administrative processes and ecosystem to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (i.e., payroll, accounting, finance) to develop and implement changes and controls to prevent future discrepancies. Required Qualification(s): Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll accounting or forensic accounting. prior experience of 3 years minimum in a Big 4 Audit firm (or BDO-RSM-Grant Thornton-Baker Tilly) seems a prerequisite. Minimum 10-15 years total experience. Strong analytical and investigative skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite. High level of integrity and attention to detail. Preferred Qualification(s): Experience with ADP payroll systems and SAP accounting software. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to multi-employer payroll and financial reporting. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically. Ability to be onsite, Lower Manhattan, NYC, NY Duration: This is a project-based consulting opportunity with a start date of February 3, 2025 with an initial duration through May 31, 2025 , with the possibility of extending.
