Program Director - Meals on Wheels

The Director of the Meals on Wheels Program will lead the efforts to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of nutritious meals to older adults in our community. This role demands a proactive and compassionate leader who can manage a diverse team, apply emotional intelligence, and foster a collaborative environment. The Director will be responsible for overseeing the program's daily operations, ensuring high standards of service and safety, and driving continuous improvement in service quality. The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and respond to the needs of both staff and clients in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree preferred or at least three years of relevant experienceAt least 3 years' experience of managing a team of 10+ individualsExcellent interpersonal and coaching skillsSelf-starter with strong organizational, judgment, planning, and time management skillsAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsBilingual (ChineseCantonese or Spanish) a plusExperience with DFTA contracts (preferred)Must have a Valid NYS Driver's LicenseExperience in reviewing and evaluating data to direct programmingStrong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft OfficeFamiliar with Manhattan addresses and routingDemonstrated experience maintaining and overseeing budgets, outcome measurements, and statisticsStrong verbal and written communication skillsResponsibilities:Administrative oversight of the Henry Street Settlement Healthy Senior Select Meals on Wheels Program, monitor the budget, and develop realistic service goals.Prepare internal and external reports for government and private funding sourcesManage contractual requirements as set forth by The New York City Department for the Aging and Citymeals on WheelsRecruit, train, and hire staffComplete annual performance evaluation and establish benchmarks for staffEnsure that policy changes are documented and communicated thoroughlyOrganize and arrange delivery routes as neededReview and report data monthly, reconcile units reported and voucheredMonitor and update NYS LENS systemPrepare documents to secure annual permits for program vehiclesProcess invoices and DFTA vouchers, prepare and monitor budgetsAssist and supervise staff out in the fieldCollaborate with other Henry Street Settlement departments and programsRespond to emergencies and vehicle breakdownsCoordinate and support subcontractors, conduct site visits, and ensure Subcontractors are adhering to contract requirementsMaintain relations with case management agencies and other organizations serving HDML clientsCoordinate with the caterer to develop appropriate menusOversee meal purchases and schedules for the delivery of mealsMust attend departmental and funder meetingsEssential Physical Job Functions:Must be able to deliver and drive when neededMust be able to walk up at least 5 flights of stairsMust be able to lift 40lbs
