Our goal is to build transformative technology without ever compromising our integrity - and we're just getting started!Junior AccountantThe Junior Accountant will be responsible for accounts payable, cash and banking support, general accounting support, and accounts receivable. This position requires a highly motivated individual who is comfortable with rapid changes in direction and environment. The ideal candidate must demonstrate professionalism and have strong interpersonal skills. What You'll Do:Accounts Payable:Review, verify coding and process invoices within the Zip AP platformAnalyze discrepancies and report on unpaid and unapproved invoicesCompile weekly payment run informationReview and process employee expense reports, and audit to ensure policy complianceReview and sync charges on company credit cards within the Ramp platform. Escalate flagged transactions accordinglyMeet with vendor management and the CFO to review the current vendor populationPerform sales and use tax reconciliation, monitoring, and maintenance within the Avalara platformCash and Banking:Prepare and distribute weekly cash management reportMonitor daily bank and clearing firm deposit balancesRecord daily cash activity in the general ledgerDownload the daily BAI filesAssist with the intercompany settlement processPrepare vendor payments in the banking platformAssist with opening new accounts as neededAccounts Receivable:Assist with the preparation and distribution of customer invoices across business lines.Apply cash receipts against open invoices within NetsuiteMonitor customer accounts for non-payment and delayed paymentPerform collection procedures in accordance with written policies.Resolve customer account and billing discrepanciesAccounting Support:Support monthly, quarterly and annual close process including, but not limited to, the recording of journal entries and scheduling of close meetings.Evaluate and recommend procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes, analysis and reportingReconcile and analyze general ledger accountsMaintain and reconcile accrual and prepaid accountsParticipate in yearly external, internal and regulatory auditsAssist in projects as neededManagement Responsibility: The Jr. Accountant is an individual contributor to the team and operates under the general direction of the Accounting Manager and Staff Accountant.Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in accounting or finance.One or more years of experience andor training or equivalent combination of education and experience.Proficient user of Excel. (Pivot tables, V-lookup, Count, Sum)Motivated professional with strong analytical skills who performs with a high degree of accuracy and is attentive to detail. The starting annual base pay is between $80,000 and $90,000 for this NY-based position. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.
