So it's a really wonderful environment to create in!They are in the midst of massive growth and expansion, both building out a bevy of 0 to 1 products as well as innovating on their already-widely-used products, so it's a great time to get in the door to execute and ship impactful work at a massive scale.About the role:They're building the next generation of innovative digital products in the insurance industry, and are looking for an energetic, proactive Senior Director of Product Design to lead the charge of a broad portfolio of high visibility "Value Streams", aka their different business units. They're looking for a dedicated design leader with 15+ years of experience, preferably with some experience in financial services, InsureTech, or a highly regulated industry. Their ideal candidate has a track record of managing managers and overseeing design orgs of ~10-15 designers. Experience with managing external partners and agencies is also a big plus. As Senior Director, you'll manage a team of 2 - 4 Directors of Product Design, who are either ICs or manage small teams. You'll oversee the end-to-end design of digital products in different Value Streams, notably Purchase Experience (application, account opening) and Service Experience (customer- and agent-facing policy and account servicing). You'll be executing a strategic vision, as well as building and joining a portfolio of digital products used by consumers and agents into one seamless, intuitive experience. You'll be collaborating extensively to not only craft individual tech-forward, user-centered digital product experiences, but also to connect end-to-end digital experiences and other multi-channel experiences within and across the Value Streams for customers and agents. This leadership position has a tremendous impact on the overall business and plays a crucial role in their entire ecosystem.You'll also have a key role in helping the company grow and mature their digital product design capabilities including evolving processes, establishing professional growth and advancement pathways, nurturing a design culture, providing coaching and mentorship, and advocating for the value of Design with a capital D in the organization.What you'll do:Design Strategy, Research, and ConceptingDirect the vision for an integrated digital product experience: Lead dedicated Value Stream Product Design Directors and partner with other Senior Directors to build design strategies in support overall business and experience goals with human-centered designPartner with other design peers to deliver insight-driven design: Guide user and design research (quant and qual), research methodologies and artifacts (e.g., interview guides, diary study journalscapture, etc.), and present insights to stakeholdersCo-create with product designUXUI partners: Design concepts across the spectrum of fidelities, storyboards, prototypes, and other visual storytelling mediums to articulate the integrated direction of key digital experiencesEstablish integrated measures of success: Develop benchmark and innovative experience and design measures that help prove that integrated digital products deliver on business KPIsOKRs and user needsManage a portfolio of digital product design deliveryDeliver end-to-end digital product designs: Lead product design directors in the full spectrum of product design activities for all life stages of digital productsNurture a productive and trusting environment: Enable a creative, productive, and trusting environment for Directors and other designers to do their best workFacilitate compelling storytelling: Craft and coach others in the execution of compelling narratives and storytelling for a range of audiences and seniority levelsManage a portfolio of digital product design execution: Manage staffingcapacity, reporting, risk management across multiple teamsprojects including those delivered by external agency partners and contractorsWithin and cross-value stream strategiesLead projects to create seamless products: With other Senior Directors and Directors, lead cross-product and cross-value stream projects to optimize the holistic experience of digital products and multi-channel experiences to ensure seamless flows for consumers, agents, and other key usersCreate alignment on cross-product, cross-value stream enablers: Partner with design systemops leaders, data leaders, and content strategy leaders to facilitate guidelines for consistent cross-product design and contentPartner with product leaders: Collaborate on digital product integration and platform decisions throughout the lifecycle to integrate product experiencesLeadership and collaborationPartner with senior leadership for delivery: Partner widely with department and program leadership, implementation managers, product managers and owners, engineering, and others in the large-scale, multi-year implementation and in-year accelerated MVP deliveryLead well-structured facilitation and workshops: Structure and facilitate meetings, workshops, and brainstorming sessions to co-create design strategy related deliverablesPartner with design leadership: Collaborate closely across the org with designers, product managers, production team, and program and business leaders to execute projects and maintain alignment on strategic directionsThe ideal candidate has:15+ years in design strategy, design leadership or a related field with consumer facing and B2B digital experiences10+ years in digital product design, including a track record of shipping high quality digital designs for a range of personas and a range of digital product types (e.g., responsive web, apps, portals, etc.)8+ years of managerial experience, including overseeing managers of managers Experience with managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentA successful track record of shipping digital experience designs across a range of front-ends and platforms (e.g., content management systems, lowno-code platforms, framework-based front ends, native apps)Mastery of design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and digital whiteboardfacilitation tools (e.g., Figjam, Miro)Please note that while this is not a hands-on design role, they do want someone who's come up through design.
