This role catalyzes and fortifies our long-term company strategy as well as stewards leadership forums. This role is heavily involved in our long-term strategy refresh for the business, including communicating key insights and initiatives from this process to key audiences like our ET Directs, SLT, and all Admin. They will have the opportunity to excite and engage employees in new ways so that they are motivated to bring their best to work and drive company performance. Capacity permitting, they will also tackle their own strategy projects that help fortify Etsy's Right to Win. This high-visibility individual contributor role requires strong executive presence, judgment, and writing skills. This person has curiosity, stamina, maturity, discretion and leadership. They cultivate a broad range of interests: historical and emergent trends in business strategy, macro trends in economics, politics and society, and management philosophy, organizational psychology and design. To be successful, the Senior Manager, Strategy and Leadership Programming will build new and compelling ways to deliver information to and engage our employees across various channels and mediums. They practice the belief that they can get from good to great by including others in their problem-solving. This enables them to be effective and valued in a range of contexts, and ultimately help advance Etsy to a new level of business performance, organizational brilliance, and marketplace creativity.This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director of Strategy & Operations - Corporate. This role requires your presence in Etsy's Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. Learn more details about our work modes and workplace safety policies here.What's this team like at Etsy?Our team is made up of S&O partners that services our CHRO, CLO and CFO, long-term corporate strategy for the enterprise, stewardship of Etsy's leadership cohorts, and operating rhythm design and focus for the organization. What does the day-to-day look like?Drive the communication of our Long-term Company Strategy into communications for various key audiences (full organization, Senior Leadership Team, and Executive Directs team) which are clear, effective, and consistent with our overall communication strategy and messaging.Synthesize organize-wide operations, plans, and strategies at the conclusion of key planning cycles to play back to the company.Lead corporate strategy communications initiatives that engage a global, company-wide audience, both live and async and in positive partnership with our Communications team.Partner with the Sr Director of Corporate Strategy & Operations and the ET to run our long-term company strategy process to unearth new insights that propel Etsy into the future and sharpen what will make us successful.Cultivate a deep understanding of our strategic objectives, and ensure our employees feel that their work is aligned to these efforts.Work closely across our S&O team to ensure standardization of ET and ET Directs communications related to our strategy.Steward our Senior Leadership Team and ET Directs engagement and programming forums, including onboarding, strategy communications, live events bringing our leadership closer to our customers, leadership and development forums in partnership with our People + Workplace team, and influential speakers and leaders in the industry.Partner with our People and Workplace and Internal Communications teams to ensure Admin receives the right balance of business and employee experience updates, and to help them stay focused on Etsy's mission, our sellers and our buyers, and our company vestigations to advance our long-term company strategy, such as competitive and market research on specific topics, business proposals and investment recommendations, and preparation of discussion guides for our executive team.Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:7-10 years of experience in a role in Corporate Strategy or Communications in a fast-paced public company, with experience working with the C-Suite and VP levelThink and communicate clearly and in a way that helps you form relationships and trust at every level, from C-suite to the team level. You have excellent judgment with the ability to represent the team with a wide variety of internal partners, including senior leadersYou are passionate about communicating high level or ambiguous concepts in a palatable way to broad audiences. You have a strong grasp of strategy concepts, our market positioning, and a curiosity about customer centricity.Crafting workshops, talks, and presentations about business strategy is your passion. You consider yourself an artful master of slide communicationsAdept at zooming in and out from the near-term detailed view (how and when) with the broader long-term view (why and what)Operate with a high degree of integrity and discretion, making you a trusted advisor and partner to senior leaders.Very organized in terms of time and knowledge management, highly adept at prioritizing across a number of active work streams.
