Job Type Part-timeDescriptionBASIC FUNCTION : The Peer Engagement Specialist will be responsible for engaging existing clients and encouraging their entry into the a specialized service enhancement track - WEIP - an HIV Early Intervention program for those with an SUD currently in treatment at one of LESC's (6) treatment modalities. The Peer Engagement Specialist will mirror the affected population and will also model the desired outcome of learning your HIV status; maintaining your negative status; seek early treatment in the event of positivity; identify current and past risk behaviors; initiate risk reduction conversations with significant others; motivate significant otherscurrent sex partners to also learn their status. These staff members will work closely with the other WEIP team members, allowing for a smooth integration of clients into specialized wellness track within the overall SUD treatment model.MAJOR DUTIES: Identifies clients in need.Conducts screening for eligibility; schedules clients for their initial intake session.Delivers Wellness Self-Management sessions to clients.Engages clients in the wellness process, allaying concerns.Runs groups.Tests clients to see if the need further treatment.Escort patients to appointments as needed.Works closely with other WEIP staff regarding implementation concerns and issues of cultural competency.
