For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens, and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.The ESL Program provides free English classes for individuals interested in learning the language. Students receive social services and legal referral information about U.S. citizenship and other immigration services. Trainings such as OSHA and First Aid help individuals in creating resumes and cover letters. At times, Mock Job Interviews are provided to individuals allowing them to develop interview strategies as well as to enhance communication skills.STATEMENT OF THE JOBThe Administrative Assistant is responsible to assist in the development and implementation of administrative aspects of the ESOL Program and is responsible to conduct intake, data entry and reporting under the supervision of the Project Director. The agency has embraced the concept of a fully integrated system of care for all consumers of service. This requires that all Agency staff assess the client's needs holistically and see it as their responsibility to connect the client with services need - internal or external to the agency, regardless of the door through which the consumer enters the system.* Participate in the client registration process to completion; maintain complete folders on students (personal information, health, emergency contact information, student tests, resumes andor other class work, incident reports).* Provide Intake and Enrollment for each assigned student and enter the information into the agency data base andor DYCD Connect.* Assist the Director with program reporting.* Assist the Director in facilitating student orientation which will include an overview of the program, client intake documentation, language assessment, and referral to social services andor other programs. QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or GED required* Minimum two years' experience in direct service with immigrants and non-English speaking clients.* One year experience with data entry, reporting and student intake.* Computer literate, including experience with Microsoft Office software packages, local area networks, and the Internet.* Bilingual in Spanish required We offer competitive salary.
