Supervising Social Worker - Domestic Violence Shelter, ParrishSummary:The Safe Horizon DV Shelter Program provides safe and confidential spaces for DV Survivors and their children. We are committed to providing these services with empathy, compassion, professionalism, non-judgement, and respect. Our spaces respect survivors' right to self-determination and focus on giving families and individuals the space, both emotional and physical, to heal from the victimization and trauma they have experienced.Responsibilities: Under general supervision, a Supervising Social Worker is responsible for the following:Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients. Coach and guide staff in their client practice that reflects these approachesProvide other direct client services, including complex case management and consultation, crisis intervention, and advocacy on behalf of and in partnership with clientsComplete a comprehensive Family AssessmentBiopsychosocial which includes trauma screenings for adults and for tegrate the results of developmental screening (Survey of Well Being of Young Children) for children ages 0-5.Based on the Family Assessment and the trauma screenings, determine which client will need ongoing Short-Term Trauma Counseling (STTC).Carry a caseload of four to five STTC clientsProvide other direct client services, including complex case management and consultation, crisis intervention, and advocacy on behalf of and in partnership with clientsConduct client intakes, safety assessment and risk management Maintain accurate and timely documentation and case files, including reports for funders, utilizing an electronic case record systemIn absence of director, SSW will assume site leadership, where appropriateAbility to carry a caseload in the absence of case management staffProvide reflective individual and group supervision to Case Managers, Childcare Aides and Housing SpecialistUse supervision and observations to coach and help improve staff's trauma-informed practices when providing case management, childcare and housing services; build and foster a trauma informed environmentUse safety assessment and risk management (SARM) when conducting family and mentalassessments by prioritizing engagement and risks, understanding triggers and protective strategies and connecting clients to appropriate mental health services as needed; Understand and respond to vicarious trauma with an emphasis on self-care;FacilitatingCo-facilitating and overseeing the content of support groups; and psychoeducational groupsOther related duties as assigned.Other Information:Bi-weekly individual clinical supervision with an LCSW which counts towards clinical hours.Once a month group clinical supervision led by shelter services LCSW leadership.Once a month group clinical supervision led by LCSW leadership of the Safe Horizon Counseling CenterTraining opportunities through the Safe Horizon Learning Center and Shelter Services LCSW.Training in Motivational Interviewing (MI) by a MINT certified trainer plus quarterly MI group coaching sessions.Qualifications: Master's degree in Social Work.New graduates are welcome to apply.Supervisory experience a plus but not required.Bilingual Spanish a plusKnowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, good oral and written communication skillsKnowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence, child abuse and neglect and sexual abuseTechnology StatementApplicants may be responsible for providing the equipment and tools they need to work remotely as required, such as access to a computer, internet service, and phone service.
