Program Manager - Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and Non-CLE Programming DEPARTMENT: Programs POSITION REPORTS TO: Senior Director, ProgramsCommittee EngagementFLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt The New York City Bar Association (City Bar), founded in 1870, is a voluntary association of lawyers and law students. The City Bar's mission is to equip and mobilize the legal profession to practice with excellence, promote reform of the law, and uphold the rule of law and access to justice in support of a fair society and the public interest in our community, our nation, and throughout the world. Our organization operates as a 501(c)(6), dedicated to maintaining high standards within the legal profession. Programs Department Function The Programs Department offers various types of programs for attorneys to update and continue their education in the law as well asearn required Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit, along with non-CLE programs. In addition to the approximately 130 discrete live programs, we offer live webcasts and onlineon demand programs. The Programs Department is committed to providing quality and timely programs to both newly admitted and experienced attorneys. Job Function Oversee and manage the development, administration and delivery of high-quality live and webinarweb-cast CLE programs in compliance with the New York, New Jersey, California and Pennsylvania MCLE requirements as well as non-CLE programs for the legal community. Effectively review and edit marketing copy, assist in designing programs, preparing agendas, and identify and recruit key speakers to educate lawyers and related legal professionals. Key Areas of Responsibility include, but are not limited to: Coordinate all phases of program planning and execution for new & repeat programs covering a of variety practice areas and formats (live, webcast, on-demand). Maintain awareness of and oversee multiple programs at different stages of development. Take special care to ensure all program details are complete and correct, and appropriately track and update information, communicating all changes to other departments, as needed. Assist in identifying program topics and recruiting volunteer faculty speakers. Work closely with City Bar committees on programming. Communicate effectively and efficiently with faculty (speakers), including assisting with committee and speaker requests. Work closely with Program Director and Program Attorneys to make sure programs meet all requirements for accreditation. Calculate speakers' CLE (or other continuing professional education) credits. Work closely and collaboratively with Marketing, Membership and Communication departments to ensure programs are well attended. Review and edit marketing pieces, including brochures, flyers, letters, emails and digital media copy. Research and maintain current knowledge of legal developments in existing and new programs addressing relevant topics that address the needs of the NYC Bar membership and legal community. Serve as the main representative for the program on the day of the live program (in person and virtual). Greet faculty and attendees and inform them of necessary and helpful information. Provide opening and closing remarks at the program as needed. QualificationsSkillsRequirements: Associate's Degree or higher level of education, or substantially equivalent work experience in a professional setting. Minimum 3 years' work experience with at least 2 years in an office setting. Prior work experience with organizing events or coordinating projects.Prior experience working with attorneys or in a legal setting a plus. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills; high attention to detail; ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment; excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable communicating both by telephone and in direct contact with members, program faculty, and the public; self-starter with a record showing (or a demonstrable capacity for) consistent professional timeliness and reliability. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, and the ability to quickly learn and effectively use other technology. Excellent proofreading and communication skills (both verbal and written). Strong time management skills and successfully prioritize workload. Ability and desire to provide excellent customer service. Can successfully work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently. Flexibility to work evening hours, as needed, for programs held after general work hours. This position will have a hybrid work schedule with some flexibility for the days scheduled to be in the office (generally 2 - 3 days each week). In-person attendance is also required for certain events and meetings. The hybrid schedule is subject to review and revision based on the departmental needs. Compensation and Benefits: Starting salary for this role is $60,000-$65,000 annually (dependent on experience) based on a 35-hour work week, plus additional pay for overtime.
