The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in emergency medical services (EMS) billing, coding, and revenue cycle management. This role requires a deep understanding of medical billing regulations, insurance claims processing, and compliance with federal and state healthcare laws. The Senior EMS Billing Specialist will be responsible for handling complex billing cases, resolving claim denials, and ensuring accurate and timely reimbursements.Billing & Claims Processing:Accurately process and submit EMS claims to Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and third-party payers.Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and other applicable regulations.Perform detailed audits of claims to prevent denials and identify billing errors.Resolve outstanding claims, denials, and rejections by working directly with pliance & Documentation:Maintain knowledge of EMS billing regulations and coding updates.Ensure all documentation meets compliance standards and supports medical necessity.Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and corrections.Revenue Cycle Management:Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.Identify trends in claim denials and implement corrective actions.Work closely with the finance department to reconcile payments and ensure proper revenue tracking.Team Leadership & Training:Serve as a subject matter expert for EMS billing within the team.Provide training and mentorship to junior billing specialists.Assist management in developing and improving billing workflows and procedures.Qualifications & Skills:Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field preferred.Experience: Minimum of 4 years of EMS billing experience, with strong knowledge of ambulance billing procedures.Certifications: Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC), Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS), or equivalent preferred.Technical Skills: Proficiency in EMS billing software (e.g., Zoll, ESO, ImageTrend), Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.Knowledge: In-depth understanding of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding, and insurance reimbursement guidelines.Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
