Our goal is to have a positive and long-lasting impact on the lives of the people and communities we serve with the hope of providing the care, support, and attention they need.So, it is our pleasure to announce that we are currently seeking a full-time candidate for the role of Director of Social Services (Dir. of SS), to join our team! - Veterans preferred for specific VA Shelter locations.By ICL definition, under the direct supervision of the SVP of Shelters, a Dir. of Social Services is someone primarily responsible for coordinating and providing clinical services such as counseling, entitlement, health and educational programs, and social services.MIN. ROLE REQUIREMENTS & PREFERENCES:LOCATION: LIC, NY 11101 + Available 5 Days min. Monday to Sunday, with options for O.T. - Shift: Days & Hours TBD EDUEXP: degree options below MUST be majored in the following human service fields... social work, counseling, rehab counseling, psychology, andor nursing with rehabilitation, community mental health, child and family studies, education, occupational therapy, physical therapy, recreationrecreation therapy, speech and hearing or sociology, as secondary options, alongside coinciding exp. with providing direct services to individuals with mental disabilities - preferably in a shelter settingDoctoral Degree and 3+ years of supervisory in a human services setting exp.MA Degree and 3+ years of supervisory in a human services setting exp.LICENSING: NYS Education Dept. & CPR & First AidProper attire always - this includes work pants, boots, and outerinner-wear with the ICL company logo (provided after training)ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to effectively use computer software such as MS Word and OutlookAbility to consistently report for work as scheduled, being on-call if neededKnowledge of the causes and processes of mental illness and substance abuse disorderKnowledge of the management process, especially as it applies to not-for-profit organizationsAbility to perform medium to heavy manual labor, including lifting objects weighing up to 20+ lbsAbility to work in a setting with diverse individuals with mental illness andor behavioral disordersStrong problem-identification and solving skills with an awareness of self and one's impact on othersAbility to work independently, and to conform to all applicable safety and accountability measuresStrong communication, listening, interpersonal, writing, and conveying skills - bi-lingual is a plus but not mandatoryAbility to continually learn and apply knowledge with a willingness to participate in in-service training and development activitiesAbility to facilitate meetings and organize time effectively to accomplish all tasks in a timely way and meet deadlines without prompting Ability to learn, understand, and comply with all state and city regulations, policies, and procedures regarding treatment planning and DHS regulationsAbility to follow all safety guidelines in accordance with the performance of the tasks mentioned below...DIR. OF SOCIAL SERVICES ADMIN TASKS:Supervise staff in the absence of the Program ManagerParticipate in employment interviews that meet federal, state, and agency regulatory guidelinesEstablish an ongoing training program and staff development to ensure professional and informed serviceSchedule employees to attend both in-service training and training provided by vendors, monitoring whether staff have attendedControl the quality of services through formal supervision, case conferences, and consultation to ensure a high standard of servicesMonitor employee accrual totals, approve or recommend approval of employee requests for time off, and notify the Dept. of Human Resources when an employee should be placed on or taken off Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), maintaining contact with staff while out on FMLAPromote positive employee morale and a culture of compliance in the work environment to stop or eliminate sexual harassment or any form of employee harassment or employee discrimination; responsible for taking complaints of sexual harassment, informing the HR Dept. of the complaint, and investigating the complaint (as directed)Manage the completion of time clock edits of staff who report to this position, monitoring subordinates' compliance with the agency's time and attendance policy, recommending and assisting with disciplinary action for those out of compliance by participating in disciplinary counseling, and completing performance evaluations, recommending employee terminations as neededDIR. OF SOCIAL SERVICES CLINICAL TASKS:Work with the Program Dir. and staff to support clinical workIntervene in major crises to ensure the well-being of staff and clientsCommunicate with referral agencies on admission criteria and bed vacanciesImplement casework policies and procedures to ensure continuity of servicesProvide supervision and oversight to supervisory clinical staff (see positions supervised above)Work jointly with contract medicalmental health providers to ensure timely delivery of servicesSupervise and coach case managers and their written work, providing technical assistance as neededManage collection and analysis of client and program data to generate reports and evaluate programsEnsure adequate mental health, medical, social services, housing placement, and substance abuse services for all clientsReview charts, database entries, and evaluate assessment documentation, establishing a criterion for program admissionConduct trainings on clinical subjects, charting, fire safety plans, fire drills, emergency plans, and procedures, building security, volunteers, and interns, and site-specific exposure control planPerform other job-related tasks as assigned in an organized and detail-oriented manner...Please Note: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed satisfactorily.
