Who We AreSince its founding in 2010, Challenge Preparatory Charter School (Challenge Prep) has provided students and families with a successful academic program in Far Rockaway, Queens. We currently serve over 1200 scholars from Kindergarten to 12th grade across 3 sites. Our school's mission is to prepare students from the greater Far Rockaway community to excel academically, to demonstrate mastery of the NY State Learning Standards, and to achieve their career aspirations. Challenge cultivates and supports the intellectual, aesthetic, social, emotional, and ethical development of its students and prepares them to be responsible 21st century citizens. To accomplish its mission, Challenge offers a rigorous instructional program in a safe, supportive, technology-infused and data-enriched and social-emotional learning sequence, authentic field experiences, career counseling, and college coursework. It is understood that we are one organization with multiple sites, and it is expected that all members of the team collaborate to support all of our scholars.Understanding the Role:Reporting to the Principal of their assigned grade span (K-5), the Administrative Assistant will have a broad set of responsibilities that range from supporting the Principal directly, to supporting the day-to-day operations of the larger School Leadership & Operations team.Overall Job Goals and Responsibilities:The staff of Challenge Preparatory School is committed to teaching scholars the values of scholarship, respect, honesty, courage, and balance in a collaborative technology-infused, inclusive family-like environment. It is the responsibility of the Administrative Assistant to Manage the Principal's calendar, including scheduling and coordinating meetings and school visits with school leaders, parents, and Network office leadershipLiaise between the Principal and other staff within the organization, including high-level leadership Identify prepare, and compile necessary materials to ensure the Principal has the appropriate information for meetings, reports, presentations, and special projectsFormat and proofread scholar-facing and leader-facing materialsScheduling of classroom teachers when members of the instructional team are absent Overseeing any external providers and their programs within grade spanOwn and improve existing processes that support the School Leadership team Support the Principal with various ad-hoc projects and other administrative duties as needed Other duties as assigned by principal Who We SeekWe will consider candidates who can demonstrate: Commitment to and alignment with CPCS mission, vision, program goals and curriculum Experience building interpersonal relationships with diverse audiencesPossess a high degree of professionalism, tact, and integrity, as well as a profound respect for the confidentiality of the documents and communications involving the organization Strong organizational, problem-solving, and data-gathering skills and are able to handle multiple shifting priorities Meticulous in your attention to detail and accuracy in matters of proofreading, document processing, and relaying messagesWork both independently and as part of a team, exercising a strong work ethic and dedication to completing work on a timely basisFlexible, resourceful, adaptable to changing needs and demands, and willing to work longer hours as circumstances require.Qualifications: 3+ years of administrative coordination experience in a dynamic environment Excellent communicator, both written and verbal Experience using Google SuiteSpeak Spanish Bachelor's Degree $55,000 - $65,000 a yearThe salary offer is based on year(s) experience and educational requirements.
