Senior AccountantJOB DESCRIPTION:This role will assist in the accounting functions for our publicly traded entities, a hybrid mortgage REIT anda residential mortgage REIT (which is the process of converting to a Registered Investment Company"RIC"). The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller.Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:§ Create and review monthly financial and management reports for the funds.§ Liaise with outside administrators to create and maintain the financial records for the entities.§ Reconcile administrator data to internal portfolio management systems.§ Assist in quarterlyannual financial statement and footnote disclosure preparation and review.§ Perform various balance sheetprofit and loss reconciliations and reporting for loan portfolios.§ Coordinate with product accountants on complex securitizations and other deals to ensure properpresentation in official books and records, including cost rolls and other financial reportingschedules.§ Maintain expense accrual budgets, analyze budget-to-actuals, and liaise with relevant departmentson expense projections and allocations between deals or desks.§ Assist in preparation of quarterlyannual investorregulatory reporting (10QK, investorpresentations, earnings releases, board packages). This also includes handling auditinquiriesrequests and assisting with investor relationsmarketing requests from time to time.§ Coordinate with tax function in preparation of periodic tax deliverables and tax related compliancesupport as well as tax projections and planning based on accounting data.Desirable background:§ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.§ 3-7 years Public AccountingFund Accounting experience.§ Understanding of complex legal structures and related accounting consolidation issues§ Knowledge of fixed income, whole loans, derivatives, MBS and derivatives is a plus.§ Excellent analytical, quantitative and computer skills (extensive knowledge of Excel is arequirement, SQL a plus)§ Strong communication, problem solving skills, and leadership ability.§ Extremely detailed oriented and organized, with a willingness to learn and be challenged.
