Job DetailsJob LocationResource Center - New York, NYPosition TypeFull-TimeSalary Range$41,000.00 - $45,000.00 SalaryyearJob Shift9:00am to 5:00pmDescriptionProgram Description: Goddard Riverside's Manhattanville (MNVL) Resource Center is a social service hub located in West Harlem in the MNVL NYCHA development, and which exclusively serves its residents. The MNVL Resource Center helps low-income individuals and families access and receive entitlements, benefits and resources. The MNVL Resource Center also offers an array of services including but not limited to, benefits screening, financial counseling, legal consultation and referrals to support services in the community and citywide.Position Summary: To engage through outreach, screen and assist low-income individuals and families in applying for and enrolling in a variety of government benefits as well as making referrals to other support services in the community and city wide, as needed.Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm (Occasional eveningweekend hours may be required)Salary Range: $41,000 - $45,000Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate's number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account. Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential DutiesRoles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties:Case ManagementConduct benefit screenings for low-income individuals and familiesAssist clients apply for benefits from local, state and federal agenciesInterview clients to assess social service needs and make referrals, accordingly, including referrals to in-house, legal clinic, financial counseling, educationalworkforce development and other resources as neededServe as an advocate for and liaison between clients and community organizations andor government agenciesWork with clients who are seeking new housing opportunities, helping them fill out housing applications and referring them to the appropriate agencies and organizationsHelp keep clients in their homes through assistance programs as well as eviction prevention measuresMaintain detailed case notesTrack and provide outcomes for services renderedAssist with collecting and inputting all necessary data and provide all required information for weeklymonthlyquarterlyannual reports.Outreach ServicesIn collaboration with the Program Coordinator, work on outreach efforts to successfully engage tenants.Support the coordination of on and off-site activities, visits, and workshops for residents including scheduling, securing space, transportation, food, etc.Support the organizing of events and capacity-building activities to encourage community building within the MNVL complex.Support community-based initiatives and represent the MNVL Resource Center at tabling events, Community Board meetings, events hosted by our elected officials and local CBO's activities.Help when needed on special projects.Resource Center Team memberAttend staff meetings, community meetings, case conferences, training programs and supervision meetings; participate in program evaluation and improvementWork as a member of an active team and respond with flexibility to a fluid and evolving program environmentAssist in maintaining program office space and assist clients who visit the collaboration with Resource Center Team work on marketing efforts to successfully engage tenants.QualificationsEducational RequirementsHigh school diploma requiredBilingual EnglishSpanish preferredSkills, Knowledge and AbilitiesExperience working with low-income populationsKnowledge of government benefitsAbility to multi-task & work in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication skillsTeam playerComputer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should havebe:Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook, Word, and ExcelAble to use or learn electronic databases such as Single StopPhysical RequirementsOccasional lifting of up to 30lbsFrequent walking and standingWork EnvironmentOn site work.Work site is located in West Harlem on MNVL NYCHA development.Seasonal outdoor outreach eventsWe are committed to building an inclusive workplace community grounded in respect for differences.
