This opportunity provides for work-life balance.Our client is a well-established non-profit that is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, and financial reporting, as well as financial profitability analysis and other special projects as assigned. This position addresses tight deadlines anda multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. Essential FunctionsPerforms all monthly closing activities and prepares monthly financial statements (on accrual and cashbasis) for the organization and its affiliate entities, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account informationReviews all entity budgets forecasts and prepares analysis and variance reportsCo-ordinates and assists with the budget preparation processPrepares Year End information for audits and tax returns for the organization and its affiliatesPrepares financial reports for management and the BoardPerforms bank reconciliation for the organization's entity bank accountsOversees cash management to ensure day-to-day cash management needs are met and necessaryreserves are maintainedPerform additional duties as assignedWorks with Controller and accounting team to establish internal policies, procedures and controls.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of:GAAP accountingAccepted methodologies for budgeting and cash forecastingCash disbursement policies and proceduresAuditing procedures and practicesFinancial management, bank reconciliation recordsKnowledge of Yardi and QuickBooksSkill Level:Superior writing and communication skillsStrong analytical skills dealing with financial data, budgets, financial records, loan and partnershipdocumentsAbility to read legal documents and interpret loan and partnership documents; able to monitorcompliance with such documentsProficient in the use of personal computers and related software applications; specifically strongintermediate Excel skills with proficiency in formulas and basic macrosStrong attention to detailExcellent interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective and influential workingrelationships with other employees, and property managersAbility to:Analyze and monitor budget informationvariances and provide status informationDevelop and prepare budgetsForecast cashPrepare audits and tax returnsReconcile bank accountsEfficiently organize complex and variable dataSet priorities in fast-paced environmentCreate corporate operating proformasProperly record complicated transactions such as consolidating entities and eliminating entriesEducation & ExperienceA combination of education and related experience may substitute for education requirements.BA in Finance or Accounting, or related field; and5+ years' experience in corporate accounting; understanding of real estate accounting conceptspreferred.Many of our job openings can be viewed at
