Job Overview:Pay: $22hour Non-exemptWork Schedule: 35 hours per week; Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pmType: Temporary February - August 2025Location: onsite in the Lower East SideCompany Overview:Since 1893, Henry Street has delivered the most effective, compassionate and comprehensive services possible to residents of the Lower East Side. As a multifaceted not-for-profit, Henry Street provides innovative social services, arts programs and healthcare services from 17 locations throughout the Lower East Side. Building upon its legacy for innovation and effective programming, Henry Street has grown to offer more than 50 different programs, currently making it one of the most comprehensive settlement houses in New York City, as well as one of the City's largest social service agencies. Henry Street is governed by a 45- member Board of Directors and is supported by government grants and contracts, as well as foundation, corporate and individual support. The purpose of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is to provide New York City youth with summer employment and educational experiences that build on their individual strengths and incorporate youth development principles. These principles include engaging the talents and interests of youth, developing their skills and competencies, and providing positive adult role models.The goals and objectives of SYEP are:To provide a valuable work experience at job sites that are safe and well supervisedTo assist youth in identifying their career interests through exposure to different industries, occupations, educational pathways, and the requirements for success in each of themTo enable youth to acquire positive work habits and develop employment-related skillsTo facilitate the long-term employment and self-sufficiency of youthTo enable youth to develop a greater understanding of higher education and career options available to themTo enable youth to develop financial literacy and other competencies that will prepare them to succeed in their transition to adulthoodQualifications:High School DiplomaGED required; College Degree or current college enrollment preferredMust be detailed oriented and an excellent multi-taskerUnflappable customer service and time management skillsStrong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and Google SuiteAbility to type accurately and create reports to display data and track trends (will be tested prior to hire)Ability to quickly and accurately calculate payrollAbility to make deadlines in a fast-paced environmentPassion for youth & community developmentSYEPWLG experience a plusBilingual (Spanish) a plusAbility to travel between different program officesAbility to work evenings and weekends as neededResponsibilities:Conduct intake and enrollment of eligible applicants by collecting appropriate documentation and importing into web-based databaseAssist with recruitment of internship sites and communicate regularly with employer partnersCorrespond regularly with participants and their parents as well as worksite partners by phone and emailAccurately enter participant information and payroll into web-based database systemMaintain participant files and ensure completion of all program paperwork for participants; prepare and maintain files for final funder auditMaintain activity, education and general enrollment rosters using Google Documents, Excel, and web-based database systemSupervise and mentor SYEP interns ages 14 to 24Attend weekly meetings, division staff meetings and actively participate in addressing workflow as neededOther duties as assigned by supervisorPhysical Requirements:Ability to work onsite in the Lower East Side and travel throughout the boroughs of ManhattanFully vaccinated against COVID-19
