OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY: The Investment Associate of Consumer Loans will be responsible for assisting the firm's investments in consumer whole loans including but not limited to:Triage new investment opportunities in consumer loansSupport the underwriting process of new investment opportunities; this includes:Developing cash flow models Understanding and refining performance modeling plus the fundamental drivers of credit performanceLeveraging in-house built models and applying appropriate calibrations to model performance expectationsComparing and contrasting performance expectations to empirical evidence drawn from private and public information (e.g., securitization performance)Developing and optimizing a capital structure (levering structural features such as IOsPOs) for the potential investment opportunity and allocation to a Bayview-managed fundCreate financial cash flow models for determining unlevered and levered returns under various structuresAssess portfolio performance relative to expectationsUnderstand market participants, technical price patterns, and alternative return strategiesTake initiative and drive tasks forward The ideal candidate will be an individual who is dedicated to making sure that these critical processes are completed effectively, accurately, efficiently and timely to support the investment process. Salesforce, Excel, PowerPoint, Intex, CAS and SQL will be the primary tools used in this position. Exemplary work ethic and ability to collaborate closely with senior investment professionals is a must.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The following job functions are not all-inclusive. Job duties may change as required by needs of company.Develop investment models Assess investment opportunity variants and determine the optimal pricing protocolsPresent recommendations on the pricing and of investment opportunities to senior investment professionalsPrice various forms of credit risk using proprietary modelsMeasure the performance of investments made relative to original underwritingTake initiative and drive tasks forwardSKILLSKNOWLEDGEABILITIES:Cash flow modeling skills Understanding of structuring (warehouse lending and ABS securitizations)Organized with processing and coordinating information on deals Ability to methodically solve problems and quantify solutions Experience working in a result-oriented environment with multiple competing deadlinesDemonstrated commitment towards achieving career growth and deepening knowledge baseExemplary work ethicStrong communication and presentation skills that can tailor to both technical and non-technical audiencesStrong PC skills required, including extensive experience with spreadsheetsStrong analytical skills and strict attention to detailAbility to prioritize several tasks at one time and meet tight deadlinesKnowledge of financial concepts including but not limited to financial statements, fixed income investments, credit risk, swaps and other derivativesSelf-driven EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:Undergraduate degree or higher from a top finance andor STEM programMinimum of two years of work experience in consumer or ABS investments that emphasize quantitative methods and structuringCERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, andor REGISTRATION:CFA charter holder, or progress towards completion, preferredLOCATION & COMPENSATION:This role will be based in either Bayview's NYC or Coral Gables, FL offices. We have existing team members in both locations. Base compensation is expected to be $130-160k with the opportunity for incentive compensation including bonus compensation.
