Straughan is currently operating under a flexible, hybrid workplace strategy that allows employees to work primarily from home with official schedules approved by their supervisor. The ideal candidate should have an interest in and understanding of current environmental issues and a shared vision for sustainability.The main responsibility of a water resource engineer is to provide quality design and modeling support that advance sustainable and resilient communities while achieving project objectives. The compensation for this role is commensurate with experience. Duties & Responsibilities Collect and analyze dataPerform field assessments and site inspectionsPerform calculations, analyses, and reportingPresent project details and technical information to colleagues and clientsAssist in the preparation of engineering documents plans, reports, cost estimates, and specificationKeeping up to date with changes in regulatory legislation and guidelinesAbility to use a variety of specialist computer applicationssimulation softwareProvide assistance to other team members and management to accomplish department goals and objectivesRequirementsQualifications Education Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in CivilEnvironmental Engineering or related field Experience No experience requiredStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients and co-workersDesired Qualifications Stormwater management design and permitting experienceErosion and sediment control design and permitting experienceStream restoration design including sediment transport modeling experienceDrainage system design experienceHydrology & Hydraulics analysesGeomorphic assessment experienceShoreline protection design experienceSite design and LEED experienceGreen infrastructure (GI), low impact development (LID), or environmental site design (ESD) experienceEnvironmental consulting andor civil engineering practices (Forest Conservation Plans, Wetland DelineationsWetland Impact Plates, Planting Plans, and similar environmental documents) experienceActive involvement in professional organizationsEngineer in Training (EIT) certifiedMicroStation or AutoCAD experienceExperience with HEC-RASExperience with WIN TR-55Experience with WIN TR-20Experience with GEOPAK andor INROADSExperience with Pond PackExperience with ArcMAPGISPhysical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.
