Build your career while building NYC schools!Capital Plan Development is responsible for developing and implementing the Five-Year Capital Plan which outlines priorities for creating new school facilities as well as upgrading our existing buildings. The Fiscal Year 2020-2024 Five-Year Capital Plan totals $17 Billion and is broken out into three categories: Capacity, Capital Investment, and Mandated Programs. Through the execution of the Five-Year Capital Plan, the division plays a key role in shaping and defining the projects that will meet the complex and vital needs of our evolving school system. Capital Plan Development also oversees "Resolution A" (Reso A) projects which are school-specific capital improvement or enhancement projects funded by the Borough Presidents or members of the New York City Council as well as manages the implementation of Mayoral initiatives.Job Description SummaryThe Manager, Operations provides assistance to Directors, Managers, Department Heads and Project Teams in the SCA related to a wide range of operational areas. The job is accountable for the management of people andor processes andor projects, ensuring the efficient and continual functioning of their assigned area. Roles typically participate in the development of policies andor procedures for their area and produce reports for leadership.Job DescriptionResponsibilities include:Play a lead role in the management of people andor processes andor projects, contributing to the overall success of the division.Participate in day-to-day operations to resolve special managerial, operational, and administrative problems pertaining to policy and practice.Create and generate reports for use on a day-to-day basis, for use by senior management to address special operational issues, and for the use of senior management and others in the formulation of policy.Participate in the development andor updating of policies and procedures for their area of responsibility, integrating best in class insights.Serve as liaison for a variety of Departments, Divisions, and Units at the SCA.Plans, assigns, monitors, reviews and evaluates the work performed by assigned staff and makes recommendation regarding recruitment, hiring, promotion, reassignment and discipline.Perform related duties as assigned.Division Specific TasksCapacity Programs:Assist in preparing and updating the Five-Year Capital Plan, ensuring alignment with ongoing and upcoming project needs.Oversee projects within the Capacity Program, ensuring effective coordination between departments, divisions, and external stakeholders. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure projects adhere to the approved program of requirements and schedules.Coordinate meetings with stakeholders regarding potential school sites for feasibility studies and acquisition, ensuring that all necessary assessments and discussions align with project goals.Analyze technical reviews for Capacity Program projects to ensure they comply with the Capital Plan Department budget and requirements.
