Job Overview:Department: Meals on WheelsSchedule: 35 hours per week; Monday to Friday from 8am - 4pm with flexibilityType: Regular, Full TimePay: 55,000- 60,000 annualized salaryOrganizational Overview:Henry Street Settlement opens doors of opportunity to enrich lives and expand human progress for Lower East Side residents and other New Yorkers through social services, arts, and health care programs. Henry Street's Meals on Wheels (Healthy Senior Select) program delivers fresh and frozen meals to more than 1,300 eligible homebound Manhattan residents every day to help them stay healthy and independent in their homes and communities. Seven meals are delivered weekly, Monday through Friday; "weekend" meals are included with Wednesday and Thursday's deliveries. Current menu selections include: Standard Fare (Regular), Kosher, Chinese and Latin style meals are available in Fresh and Frozen formQualifications:Self-starter with strong organizational, judgment, planning, and time management skillsDemonstrated experience in managing a diverse staff of 15 or more staffRecognizes and understands the emotions of others, leading to better team cohesion and moraleEffectively mediates conflicts by recognizing emotional cues and addressing issues professionally and respectfully.Promotes a collaborative environment where diverse perspectives are valued.Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.Passion for social services, with an interest in supporting Older Adults.At Least one year of supervisory experience is required, overseeing at least five or more employees.Meals on Wheels programmatic experience a plus.Knowledge of Department for the Aging (DFTA) policies and procedures.Demonstrated knowledge of routing and delivery.Excellent communication skills.Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record.Food Handler's License, or ability to obtain within the first 3 months of employment.Responsibilities:Fulfills duties and responsibilities of the Program Director in their absenceDirects and ensures effectiveness of program's daily operations including incident management. In emergency situations, responds to the scene and provides leadership.Coordinate with other staff to ensure quality customer service and client satisfaction.Responsible for monthly site visits to food vendors to ensure contract complianceCollaborate with the program coordinator and program associate to address any concerns related to delivery and to rectify any discrepancies in documentation with the delivery staff.Hire, train, supervise and evaluate delivery staff. Monitor PTO balances and schedule and secure coverage.Oversee the performance management of delivery staff including conducting daily, weekly and monthly monitoring of staff out in the field; both scheduled and unscheduledSchedule and conduct quarterly training on program's policies and procedures as well as any related trainings for delivery.Oversee all maintenance of delivery equipment and upkeep of all program vehicles.Oversee the Senior Companion satellite site and connect MOW clients with SCP Services.Provides route coverage; and responds to emergency situations.Adheres to all DFTA policies, HSS policies, and MOW polies professionally and effectivelyAttends subcontractor meetings weekly, provider meetings monthly, and advisory meetings as requestedInitiates referrals and meets with team leaders regularly to maintain and increase clienteleOther related duties as assigned by the Program Director.Essential Physical Job Functions:Must be able to deliver when neededMust be able to assist in delivery walk up at least 5 flights of stairs, lift 40lbsAbility to work onsite in the Lower East Side and travel around all 5 NYC boroughs
