Opportunities will be available upon Contract Award.Armed Processing Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the intake and processing area within a detention facility, ensures the smooth and secure intake of detainees by supervising staff, manages paperwork, conducts initial screenings, and ensures compliance with legal procedures and facility policies while maintaining a safe environment for both detainees and staff. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervisory Duties:Observe, supervise, instruct, and coordinate Processing and Transportation Officers in detention and transportation activities.Conduct beginning of shift inspection of Processing and Transportation Officers to ensure they meet Company dress and appearance standards, Post Orders, ACA, and PBNDS standards.Schedule, prioritize and assign work on a daily basis. Make team assignments and match teams to workload.Supervise, evaluate, and participate in the work of Processing and Transportation Unit, including other assigned areas of the facility.Supervise the in-processing and out-processing of detainees within the facility.Conduct visual post checks and completing post check forms.Provide muster pass daily to staff and incoming shift.Report Officer performance deficiencies to the Shift CommanderCaptain or Chief of Security.General Duties:Ensure detainee funds and valuables are properly documented, stored, and required government paperwork is completed.Monitor detainee movements in the processing area.Ensure that detainees are delivered for court appearances within the facility.Maintain surveillance of the facility through the CCTV system.Control various electronic doors and gates.Conduct daily quality control and visual post checks. Provide written post check for all posts on shift and assigned areas.Ensure only processing officers with required clearances are assigned to government computers.Conduct staff detainee communication to ensure that detainees are safe, secure, and their needs are being met. Resolve minor issues or grievances received from detainees.Ensure safe work practices, identify workplace hazards, ensure safety compliance, and communicate safety expectations to the staff and detainees.Conduct employee performance evaluations.Enforce American Correctional Association (ACA) and PBNDS policies, procedures and orders related to the custody, care and treatment of detainees.Conduct periodic, random drills of response scenarios in accordance with the Facility Emergency Response Plan.Ensure that armed processing and transportation officers respond quickly and appropriately to all medical emergencies.Promptly contacting and dispatching assistance to officers requiring such.Assume command and control during any use-of-force incidents.Ensure facility counts are conducted properly at scheduled intervals and that results are recorded in facility logs with "re-counts" if and when necessary.Order detention support supplies: such as, film, detainee uniforms, etc., through the facility supply department.Ensure staging and processing staff provides the following:Complete issue of clothing, personal articles, and required identification to newly arriving detainees.Proper inventory of detainee personal property and receipts for property are prepared and provided to the detainee.Fingerprinting, photographing, and preparation of detainee file (if so tasked) for arriving detainees.Enforcement of ensuring females and males or properly segregated in holding cells.Meals to detainees restricted to processing as required.Appropriate log entries are made to record receipt and transfer of residents.Detainee hold times are not exceeded while conducting intakeouttake process.Provide post trainingprofessional development to Processing and Armed Transportation Officers when new procedures are implemented.Immediately report incidents and unusual events relative to facility security to the Captains or Chief of Security; follow up with supplemental reports as necessary.General Transportation Duties:Monitor safe driving habits of Transportation OfficersEnsure compliance with randomannual drug and alcohol screening requirements.Monitor detainees to ensure appropriate behavior during transport.Ensure transportation assignments are scheduled and detainees are properly prepared for and transported in accordance with Performance-Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS). Preparation includes:Patting down all detainees prior to boarding vehicles.Applying appropriate restraints prior to boarding vehicles.Securing detainee transfer paperwork in the vehicle and ensuring appropriate distribution upon delivery of detainees to destinations.Ensure inventory of detainee baggagevaluables has been properly completed by visual examination of appropriate documentation.Other Collateral Duties: Perform other duties as directed by the CaptainChief of Security.Job RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education andor Experience:Must be a United States Citizen or person lawfully admitted into the US for permanent residence.Must have resided in the U.S. for the last five years (unless abroad on official U.S. government duty)Must maintain currentphysical residency in the continental US.Must possess a High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.Must be 21 years of age or older.Must have at least one year of experience as a detention officer or, two (2) years successful experience in field supervision (civilian law enforcement, commercial or industrial guard services, military, or security service supervisory positions). 2-year requirement may be satisfied by completion of a career development program that includes work related experience, training, or college credits at a level of achievement equivalent to the basic requirement.Clear criminal history; no felonies or Class A misdemeanors.Class B Commercial Driver's License with passenger and air brake endorsements preferred. Must maintain a safe driving record.Pass a medical examination conducted by a licensed physician within 30 days prior to initial assignment and annually thereafter.Pass a drug screen.Must have and maintain a valid New York State DOS Armed License.Must pass a background investigation and obtain a security clearance.Must have knowledge of US DOT and FMCSA Rules and Regulations.Must be able to qualify with their assigned weapon at least quarterly and demonstrate firearms safety knowledge and demonstrate proper manipulation of their assigned weapon.Must meet and have in-depth knowledge of ACA and 2011 PBNDS (2016 Revision) requirements.Language Skills. Able to: Write clearly and concisely using acceptable grammar, punctuation and spelling; write organized, complete, accurate and factual municate in English using complex sentences using normal word order with present and past tenses. Express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities where they must convey details or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly. Understand and apply written and verbal orders, rules and regulations.Physical Demands. Able to:Perceive the nature of sounds with no less than 40 dB loss at Hz, 1000 Hz and 2000 Hz with or without correction.Receive detailed information through oral communication. Maintain a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction enabling the employee to complete clerical tasks, and observe detainees. Stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, lift, grasp, and be able to perceive the attributes of an object such as size, shape, and temperature. Move wrists, hands andor fingers frequently and regularly. Occasionally exert up to 100 pounds of force.
