Our pursuit of excellence is unwavering.Role SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated Director-level hire to join the NLG Capital Team. This role is purpose built to expand NLG Capital's investment capabilities through our partnerships with 3rd party asset managers. In doing so, the individual must have a demonstrated ability to identify differentiated asset classes that generate superior risk-adjusted income, conduct rigorous underwriting of top-tier managers, and support the design of bespoke investment strategies that are tailored to the specific needs of an insurance general account.The ideal candidate will bring a proven ability to deliver value through strategic partnerships, innovative relationship structuring, and comprehensive manager evaluations. This is role is highly execution-focused, requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver results under tight deadlines, and support cross-functional initiatives that drive the success of the investment organization.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManager Due Diligence and Selection:Conduct comprehensive due diligence on external managers across diverse asset classes, including public fixed income, private credit, real assets, and other alternatives.Evaluate managers' investment processes, performance history, risk management practices, and alignment with the firm's general account objectives.Prepare detailed underwriting reports with actionable recommendations for the investment committee and senior leadership.Bespoke Investment Strategy Development:Partner with managers and internal teams to co-create customized investment strategies that are purpose-built for the insurance company's general account.Ensure bespoke strategies meet key objectives, including regulatory capital efficiency, ALM alignment, duration, and book yield targets.Drive collaboration to structure investments that optimize terms, fees, and risk-sharing mechanisms.Performance Monitoring and Analysis:Develop robust frameworks to monitor manager performance and the impact of new strategies on portfolio outcomes.Work closely with Investment Risk and Analytics function to establish and track performance benchmarks, risk metrics, and other key performance indicators for selected managers.Ensure transparency and accountability in all manager relationshipsExecution Support for Key Initiatives:Ability to pivot to the organization's highest-value initiatives as needs evolve.Contribute to the execution of projects critical to the investment team, including data gathering, analysis, and presentation preparation.Collaborate with investment professionals to support the execution of strategic projects with the firm's investment objectives and insurance-specific constraints.Minimum QualificationsMBA or equivalent advanced degree with a focus on finance, economics, business administration, or a related field.7+ years experience in investment management, manager research, or consulting within financial services.Strong exposure to manager due diligence processes across multiple asset classes, with a focus on identifying top-tier investment managers, developing bespoke investment strategies, and structuring strategic partnerships. Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with the ability to assess risk and identify investment opportunities.Superior communication skills with the ability to effectively present investment proposals to senior management.Benefits & CompensationYour benefits start day one and are flexible and customizable to your and your family's specific needs. We are open to varying levels of addition to base salary, other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.
