Our Institutional bank helps our largest customers move trade and capital around the region, providing our people with great opportunities to build their technical expertise and their careers.About the RoleAs a Financial Control Expert you will be responsible for providing accounting and reporting activities to support the CFO of Americas, including provision of accurate and timely financial information and completion of various monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting requirements, and accounting services to support such financial reporting. This includes ensuring compliance with Finance's policies and procedures, accuracy and timeliness of month-end delivery requirements, registers, schedules, reconciliations, trial balance and books of records, and completion of accounting services to support financial reporting.The operating rhythm of this role will be driven by the Finance Operating Model which foresees that activities of a production nature are performed in a centralised manner off-shore, with the on-shore FC team members reviewing outputs, providing guidance to the off-shore team and investigating unusual items.There will be some exposure to regulatory reporting obligations of the branch or the locally incorporated broker-dealer subsidiary, registered with the SEC, where warranted to ensure coverage or agreed as part of personal professional development. You will from time to time have some involvement with management reporting and support the local business by delivering detail analysis of business performance and providing financial insights to help shape decisions and maximise value.Financial Control Community of Practice: Formulation, implementation and monitoring of accounting policies and internal controls. Compliance with statutory and regulatory financial reporting requirement. Accountable for the integrity of the numbers by delivering accurate, reliable and timely financial information, ensuring that the processes are streamlined and above all embedding a strong governance culture.Location: New YorkRole Type: Permanent, Full TimeWhat will your day look like?As a Financial Control Expert your principal accountabilities will be; Support the completion and accuracy of the monthly close process for all designated entities. Ensure the accuracy of financial information and compliance of local processes with ANZ accounting policies and procedures. Proactively support an effective and cooperative relationship across both on shore and off shore accounting teams to ensure delivery of service (including supporting onshore and offshore issue resolution Support the CFO in providing business with strategic insights to shape business decisions, assist the business to maximize earnings, manage costs and deliver performance targets. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with various finance (onshore and offshore) and local enablement functions to enable effective exchange of information required to support general accounting services, external and group reporting, and management reporting needs. Support compliance with applicable external reporting requirements. Maintain process documentation ensuring processes adhere to compliance and control disciplines as outlined in the Accounting Standards Manual and mandatory Finance (and other Group) policies and procedures Ensure compliance with relevant standards, policies, legislation and regulations (Statutory and Regulatory). Support financial governance activities across the business incl statutory reporting and group sign off requirements.What will you bring?To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: Strong understanding of controls and control frameworks. Experience with statutory and regulatory accounting and reporting within a banking environment. Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or equivalent. Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and implement advances in technology. Experience and effective use of "base" tools of trade (Excel; Finance systems); Collaboration tools and platforms. More advanced skills in data management field is an advantage. Sound analytical skills. Ability to understand, interpret and articulate business operating principles, key drivers of business value, and operating levers. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence, with experience working with off-shore sites. A good sense of humor to keep the team spirit high and make work enjoyableYou're not expected to have 100% of these skills.
