This position plays a critical role by overseeing the financial operations of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years in the construction industry with progressive experience preparing financials, supervising personnel, and managing key relationships, with banks, insurance brokers, and auditors.ROLE OVERVIEW:The Director of Finance will be responsible for the accounting functions in a multi-divisional accounting environment including all financial reporting, budgeting, reforecasting, cash management and treasury, preparing and filing all tax and information returns, overseeing payroll, and administering all insurance policies, contracts, leases, and business licenses. Works closely with executive leadership and supervises a team to ensure best-in-practice accounting procedures are implemented and maintained. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Manages day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department.Liaises with outside accountants, banking representatives, retirement plan administrator and insurance brokers and carriers.Timely preparation and issuance of monthly financial statements, yearly budgets, monthly closing and related analysis.Maintains the accounting daily operating cycle on a timely and current basis to ensure related department functions can be carried out according to schedule.Preparation of financial schedules to support the annual review and other required audits. Preparation and reconciliation of the final monthly job cost to general ledger and WIP to the general ledger.Manages annual corporate income and franchise tax returns, payroll, gross receipts and sales tax returns.Sales Tax reporting in all jurisdictions where the company operates.Responsible for renewal and administration of insurance policies, manages claims, and ensures compliance by Project Teams.Reviews and manages corporate leases, owner contracts, vendor and consultant agreements, NDAs, and other legal documentation.Liaises between senior leadership and outside counsel to resolve contractual issues and manage requested changes to standard agreement templates.Ensures financial information flows regularly to the CEO, EVPs, and Portfolio Owners.Leads and mentors the accounting team, promoting a collaborative, high-performance culture.REQUIREMENTS:Minimum 10 years of overall experience; minimum 3 years experience overseeing a department or functional area required.Five years of construction related experience.Four-year degree in Accounting, Master's Degree a plus. Advanced skills in Excel and Sage; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
