This position reports to the President and takes Away further by leading our luggage, bag, and accessory merchandising strategy, ensuring our assortment meets customer expectations, brand values, and our long-term growth and financial objectives.This is an exciting opportunity to join a widely celebrated brand that is looking to continue to innovate and iterate. We're looking for an influential and inspiring Merchant that has proven success driving bottom line results in omnichannel organizations, and has deep experience entering and understanding new markets and customer segmentations. This role is for you if you are data-driven in your approach, love mentoring a team, and understand how to build trusting relationships with cross-functional peers in order to achieve common addition to the below responsibilities, this position will also oversee 3 direct reports and 3 skip-level reports.What you'll do as the Vice President, MerchandisingMerchandisingDevelop and lead Away's merchandising strategy across multiple channels (e-commerce, retail, wholesale and B2B) with the overall goal of driving both aggressive revenue targets and market share winsOwn the entirety of Away's product lifecycle across all categories, from go-to-market to exits, standing up scalable and effective processes throughout to maximize internal team speed and efficiencyLead cross-functional teams to best understand how to create new product, elevate existing product, and right-size assortments to meet our business objectives, including partnering with Product Development, Product Sourcing, Channel and Marketing teamsSteer our pricing strategy to increase market share and drive sales while keeping a pulse on economic viability and anticipated demandPartner closely with marketing teams to develop and execute a full commercial roadmap, ensuring cohesive product launches and promotional campaignsLead a multichannel promotional strategy that supports both direct and wholesale channels through creative, demand-driving exits and discounts, balancing the need to convert while maintaining our premium brand positioningPartner closely with finance and data team to drive rigorous reporting and analyses for the sake of productivity, growth, and profitabilityManage a strong customer feedback loop, integrating reviews and insights to optimize new product development and rolling change improvementsConduct extensive research of global, national, and regional trends, in partnership with brand and design, to best understand opportunities for growth and what our customers (new and returning) are looking for in their travel needsServe and influence best practices across the business, including trade marketing, design, and retail visual merchandisingfixtures, ensuring our strategy is consistent across different departmentsMentor and manage a merchandising team, providing them new opportunities to learn and growPlanning & AllocationOwn the open-to-buy process, including replenishment forecasting and investment strategy aligned to revenue and margin targetsRepresent Planning & Allocation as the functional expert, leading higher complexity and higher value projects in partnership with the Leadership TeamEnsure channels have healthy inventory in order to drive sales, leading teams to best understand regional demand based on data and customer insightsCarefully balance cash constraints while maximizing our sales potentialCreate a feedback loop to integrate customer feedback and channel insights into our product strategy, inclusive of post-launch recaps and quarterly hind-sightingMentor and manage our planning and allocation teams, providing them new opportunities to learn and growWho you areYou have extensive experience leading omni-channel merchandising in complex CPGluxury retail environments, with demonstrated success driving both profitability and market shareYou have past experience managing buying, planning, and allocation teams, and understand best practices to maximize sell-through and minimize overstockingYou have strong business acumen; you can read and shape a P&L and ascertain what changes you need to make in a merchandising strategy in order to better meet financial objectives and better meet customer needsfuture product trendYou're data-driven, and understand how to tell a story through the numbers in order to make recommendationsYou have previous experience working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including marketing, product design and wholesale buyers, and understand how to guide all partners to understand the same brand and merchandising goals across different customer segments and channelsYou're influential; partners are inspired by your candor and look to you when undergoing change managementYou're creative and innovative; you love to build great new things that are fresh and unique while staying on brandAgile, and motivated by a fast-paced and ever changing environmentPassionate about transforming travel for all (but that's a given!)Team player with a "no task is too small" attitudeEnjoys working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environmentPassionate about transforming travel (but that's a given!)Excited to join the team, but not sure you meet all of the qualifications? What we offer within a salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Away employees.
