We are hiring for the role of Assistant Athletic Trainer. This role will be critical to helping maintain the overall health and performance of our Liberty athletes.The role will be joining a health and performance team that aims to create an environment which unlocks, develops and focuses the talent found on the playing roster as well as within the player health and performance department. This role will work in concert with our head athletic trainer, sports performance lead as well as out larger medical team and be involved in proactively evaluating athletes' movement competencies, caring for both acute and long-term injuries as well as working and communicating seamlessly with all stakeholders to deliver best-in-class athlete care using evidence-informed and process-driven systems.The team, coming off their 1st WNBA Championship and entering their 28th season, is continuing to invest heavily in their player health and performance department and overall staff to provide world class care for our athletes. The ownership and management are committed to this appointment and are determined to hire an individual that will continue to help drive the organization forward.WHAT YOU WILL DO:Key ResponsibilitiesAn active member of a cohesive interdisciplinary health and performance department.Assist in the delivery of clinical excellence within the health and performance department.Assist in the delivery of on-court emergency or acute medical care by providing courtside presence for all game and practice basketball activities, providing first responder care in the event of a player injury or emergency.Ability to assume responsibility in the absence of the Head Athletic TrainerAssist in the safety and welfare of all athletes during both acute and long-term injuries.Help ensure high levels of professionalism and patient confidentiality at all times across the Health and Performance Department.Assist in maintaining medical records for players in WNBA League EMR (AHMS-Athlete Health Management System) as well as help ensure appropriate recording of all medical, treatment, and assessment data in a team wide accessible athlete management system.Assist in the coordination of the WNBA drug testing regimeHelp to maintain prescription medication logs and inventories as well as record all medication usage in the WNBA site as requiredHelp to ensure all WNBA notifications and procedures are distributed amongst all the health and Performance staff and stored in database.Help to ensure the clubs Health and Performance department meets any mandatory requirements of the WNBAHelp to ensure all WNBA forms and paperwork relating to the Medical and Performance departments are filed correctly and returned on timeAssist in the coordination of any care required for WNBA officials or opposition team members who require treatment whilst in BrooklynClinical ResponsibilitiesProvide a high quality, professional and thorough service across all aspects of your general responsibilitiesCourtside presence for all game and practice basketball activities, providing first responder care in the event of a player injury.Provide all relevant acute athlete care (taping, etc) as required.Assist in maintaining a full inventory of all Sports Medicine and Recovery equipment and supplies, and ensure that the storage area is appropriately organized andAssist with stock-taking and the ordering of any medical room equipment needsAssist with organizing necessary equipment for team travelAssist with organizing the Medical Treatment room whilst on the roadAssist in implementing and maintaining the emergency medical and action response protocols and plans for practice and game (home and away).Assist in coordinating athlete physician visits and imaging services as needed.Assist in coordination of any physician andor external medical providers (X-Ray Tech, EMS, etc.) coverage for all home gamesManage workers' compensation and all insurance claim filingsAssist in organizing incoming and outgoing physical exams for athletes with all relevant medical providersAssist the head athletic trainer, Sports Medicine Lead, and Rehabilitation Lead with the treatment and management of injuries as required.Work with the health and performance team to ensure clear and consistent messaging across the organization regarding all aspects of athlete management.Assist in management and development of the Performance Team Coordinator and Intern Athletic Trainer (if applicable)Integrative ResponsibilitiesAssist the Head Athletic Trainer, Sports Medicine Lead, Rehabilitation Lead, and Sports Performance Lead with the overall management of athlete injuries and rehabilitation programming as required.Assist the Performance Team with the yearly reviews of all athlete development programs and return to competition protocols with respect to the most recent evidence for continuedenhancement and refinement.Assist player monitoring systems (as requested by Sports Performance Lead)Assist with development and implementation of player recovery programsAssist in maintaining the general cleanliness and organization of the training room, hydrotherapy area, massage room and performance spaceMaintenance and development of relationships across the New York Liberty organization.Personal ResponsibilitiesComplete all specific tasks delegated to you in a timely and efficient manner.Raise any areas of potential grievance or opportunity with the general manager at the earliest possible stageWHAT YOU WILL BRING:5+ years of practice in athletic trainingProfessional team sports experience encouraged.Strength & Conditioning Performance coaching experience preferred.Skilled in the use of electronic medical recording systemsMust be certified as an athletic trainer by the BOCMust be registered and licensed as an athletic trainer in the state of New YorkCurrent CPR and First Aid CertificationsMust hold sufficient Professional Liability InsuranceMaintain a record of Continuing Professional DevelopmentMaintain suitable levels of personal fitness appropriate for the physical nature of this roleBachelor's degree in athletic training, Sports Medicine or related field (Masters Preferred)Certified Athletic Trainer by the BOCLicensed or capable of being licensed in the state of New YorkSports, Orthopedics or Manual Therapy Clinical
