Job Type Full-timeDescriptionJob PurposeThe Billing Coordinator is responsible for timely and accurate submission and collection of claims. This includes but is not limited to ensuring that staff are provided with updates relating to billing and coding functions, as well as process for collection of payments. Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsures charge submission and accounts receivable follow-up is occurring on a timely basisUpdates all fee charges and procedural codes on a timely basisComposes information in a clear and well-written mannerReviews and resolve denial issuesPrepares status and ad-hoc reports, including weekly utilization reports summarizing volumes and charges submitted to the billing companyReviews monthly financial reports on a timely basisAdheres to general practice and FGP guidelines on compliance issues and patient confidentiality Develops payment schedules (FGP) based on reason, availability of resources, and patient's ability to payResponds to patient circumstances and explanations based on thorough assessment of situation Reviews daily schedules to verify patient insurance information and MD BenefitsReports to Management regularly and requests intervention where necessary Interacts with vendors and independent contractors as it relates to billing and collectionsAssistants with the review of deposits to ensure steady cash flow. Reconciles deposits compared to the billing logParticipates in reviews of office procedures as they relate to charge submission and accounts receivable management; recommends suggestions, ideas and solutions to improve operational processes. Collaborates with practice personnel and administration to implement change to practice operations where necessary.Performs other related duties as assignedUse, protect and disclose patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards RequirementsQualifications4-year College Degree or work equivalencyMinimum two years of experience with medical billing, insurance verification, electronic medical records and other related dutiesCompletion of Billing course requiredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritizeExcellent work ethic and the ability to work independentlyAbility to identify and correct any errors missed billingResourceful and willing to 'think outside the box'Proficient in MS Office - Outlook, Excel and WordWorking ConditionsPhysical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move around the work area; Sit; perform manual tasks; operate tools and other office equipment such as computer, computer peripherals and telephones; extend arms; kneel; talk and hear.Mental Demands: The employee must be able to follow directions, collaborate with others, and handle stress.Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.Med-Metrix will not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, veteran status, other non-merit based factors, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
